Are the mech packs you see in the store random or how do they work?
Sort of interested in them just for the convenience of having new mechs to play around with, without having to think too much about it.

Press buy on one of the packages, it tells you what mech comes with it. Also tells you what other stuff it comes with.. personally I think they aren't worth it except for maybe the light bundle, as the Jenner has an XL300 engine, and it's the best jenner in my opinion.

The light bundle contains a 35 ton Jenner, JR7-F with 3 Small Lasers and 3 Medium Lasers it runs at 138.9kph,
Medium contains a 50 ton Hunchback HBK-4P with 9 Medium Lasers, 84.2 kph be warned firing more than 4 MLs within half a second causes additional (ghost) heat penalties.
Heavy contains a 65 ton Catapult CPT-A1 with 2 LRM15 and 4 SSRM 2s, 69.8 kph.
Assault contains a 100 ton Atlas AS7-RS with 2 LRM15+Artemis (for reduced lock on time), 4 Medium Lasers and a Gauss rifle (to fire the Gauss you hold down the fire button for at least 0.75 seconds, you then have 1.25 seconds to release and fire, fail to release on time or fail to hold down fire for long enough and it will not fire), 52.7kph.
These are all Champion versions, they will have most of the upgrades you will need and come with a semi-optimized load out, however this does not mean they will fit your preferred play style, if you are sure you want to play one of those chassis, and are willing to pay real money they will save you millions of cbills on performing the standard upgrades (Double Heat Sinks, Endo Steel internals), however all the Mechs can be purchased for cbils no real money required if you are willing to spend the time earning them.

Ghost heat for MLas starts with 7.
The combination of a champion mech, plus premium time, plus other goodies is actually pretty good; the preimium time + mech alone is more than the bundle if purchased seperately.

The bundles are not random but preset.

Champions also provide a 10% XP bonus, not mentioned above. Heroes provide a 30% C-bill bonus, both are good to stack with premium time for plenty of cash. Hero mechs as of now are separate.

i never actually clicked on them....
the light one seems like the best option for my play style. So far I have more fun in the quick light mech over the slower heavier one I have.

The light one is a nice choice if you're going with that.
Also, the 300 engine is possibly the most versatile engine in the game, be it XL or STD. (XL for the light package btw)
