hehe selection in the options. I can check for Clan Names or uncheck for IS names, default IS name is on... because IS and PGI ;)

They had better allow Clan players to use the official Clan names.

The logical and cool thing for PGI to do in this case is to have all the names in your HUD readout be directly affected by the Faction you choose.
If you've picked an I.S. faction then all names in your readout are I.S. designations.
If you've chosen one of the Clans, then obviously your readout should be Clan designations.

It's common sense.

not quite sure, but I'm certain this is how it will go:

For Inner Sphere `Mechs, the IFF will designate as inner Sphere names

For Clans, the IFF will designate by Clan names.

Example:

Atlas is facing a Daishi, then the targeting computer will designate the Dire Wolf as a Daishi

When a Daishi faces another Daishi it will designate it as a Dire Wolf.

This is exactly what I said pretty much :] for sure it's the best way to do it In my opinion though I could understand peoples wishes to have something like a toggle though I myself would prefer the IS IFF use IS names and clan use clan names.

This just makes far more sense IMO. Just because a Clansmen is in an IS mech, it does not mean that he/she should be using the IS names.

Would depend on how much time or effort the techs put into reworking the IFF (or whatever it is)

Being Clanners they probably would put in a decent effort - being desperate enough to use salvaged IS tech..... they might not have time (or other resources) to do so.

True. A Clan MechWarrior would probably fight in a 2nd - line Clan BattleMech before a salvaged IS 'Mech
