This is a good idea. Hmm...even if they don't replace them with Urbie's then maybe tanks? They are less powerfull.
But then they should go all the way and make 2-3 different vehicles.
Standard tank, Fast striker with SRM/Laser mix, LRM truck, imagination is the limit.

Better AI would have to be made regardless of Urbie or other vehicles since they would have to move.
That would eat up a lot of PGI's manpower.

The only issue is that they might be slightly overpowered.

But make the spectate mode who was the fire control for them, no movement control just twist and fire. No AI required, or use the existing AI for the turrets, but let a spectator take over fire control.

Urbanmechs are almost turrets already, and I've figured the logical next step for turrets would be AC10 turrets, so the Urbanmech as the new turret (barely mobile, roaming a patrol circuit, skulking behind terrain until a hostile trips its ambush protocols) would actually make a bunch of sense (and would be fun).

Plus it would satisfy all those Urbanmech junkies without breaking the game or the lore, and without saddling PUGs everywhere with random trashcan urbantroll pilots.

Only if they can be controlled by the 13th player in the Command Console.

IMO they should patrol the base area and have a delay of 0.5s to locking on target and start firing, if there isn't a canon class, I don't know much about BattleTech, they should be a separate class with low power weapons to "preserve" urban structures in case of urban battles.
