If a Gauss Rifle explodes it is the same as an ammo explosion. It is therefore listed as such.
Yes, your Gauss killed you!

Gaus ammo does not explode but the gauss rifle does (and it does 20points of damage to your internals).

In-fact the game knows it was a gauss rifle explosion and not an ammo explosion so it should report it correctly.
The point is the OP had no idea what was going on, why would he, if the game client is not being clear.
OP I would raise a bug. It should say "Gauss Rifle Explosion" if it indeed was a GR that went bang not ammo.

This question comes up way too often for PGI to not correct that one line of text. Seriously.

Yes, they need to install an information dissemination module...
Storing a Gauss riffle and an XL engine in the same compartment is risky. When your rear armor is gone you need only 3 critical damage to the Gauss and it explodes (90% chance, so nearly always). A harassing light can already achieve this easily
You could try this CPLT-K2?
Slightly slower, c.a.s.e. to avoid the Gauss taking out your engine, Gauss to the other side to avoid it taking out the AMS when it goes, ammo with the riffle to reduce chances of critting the Gauss (its ammo does not explode!), PPC with lower heat requirement. You can trade the DHS for more arm armor if you wish or go the small lasers to match the PPC minimum range. The arms of the catapult only contain a ML now... I think this build will play nearly the same as your current build? Unless you really want the ER-PPC.
