Here's a thought I had a while ago...
My CTF-4X goes 59kph without speed tweak in an XL 255 engine. If, for example, I don't completely max out my tonnage (lets say that I max it out at 68 tons instead of 70), the engine won't be trying to support as much weight and it would be able to run slightly faster.
My suggestion is that PGI implements slightly more speed for mechs that don't check out at the maximum tonnage of the mech.
Let's say it is calculated by 1% per free ton (0.1% per 0.1 ton).
2% of 59kph is 1.18 kph, so if I added both together, I would get 60.18kph, which I'd round to 60.2kph.
If I tried it at a rate of 1.25% per available ton, the total would be 60.475kph (60.5kph).
1.5% per available ton would be at 60.77kph (60.8kph)
Here's another example:
My FS9-A is at 34.7 at maximum tonnage, and it would go 140kph with speed tweak (I don't have speed tweak on it at the time of writing this).
1% would be at 140.42kph/140.4kph (remember I am missing 0.3tons, not 1 ton)
1.25% would be 140.525/140.5kph
1.5 would be at 140.63/140.6kph
Formula (in this order): Top speed divided by 100, multiply by percentage (in this case either 1, 1.25 or 1.5), multiply by available tonnage, then add this to the original Top Speed.
(I hope I explained that correctly)

I want to say the Canon reason against this has something to do with speed actually being limited by the myomer bundles not the engine and it ties in with the explanation of MASC. It's all sort of vague and muddled but I'm 98% sure there is a "reason" why it doesn't work that way.

I do not like this idea. To a degree it makes sense, but I dislike the idea of a troll atlas flying across the map. While some kind of limits would be installed to prevent such a thing happening, I do not like the concept.

I can already see a Boars head w / 400XL, endo steel, no armor, 6SL = hugeass cicada on crack. weighs 1,5 tons more, but has 60 engine rating more, and still more internals than a CDA has internals and armor combined.... So an atlas running around at (theoretically) 170ish,
Hell, I`d probably be the first to run one.
And that`s why I`m not a fan of the idea...

Ok, it is PGI-Warrior though. Having said that, canon is probably best.

Perhaps an cap on the speed increase? Maybe 10%?
