Ay.
The new IS pack.
Rushed out so people can stop moaning they don't want to buy a clan pack or spend more than $80 to get a free King Crab and Atlas.

Don't know if want tbh...

But hey, we should be getting the Urbie this year, now they know. :P

they could work around the engine via quirks too, minus speed and minus tonnage for engines. messy though and not ideal.

Easiest way to sort the issues with engine tonnage would be to make the required external heatsinks be attached to the engine as floating slots, similar to how IS Endo-Steel and Ferro-Fibrous work. That way all the engines can be the correct weight and this will also ensure that the 10 heatsink minimum rule is followed.

As I've said before, really, the engine is easy - make it Fixed, job done.

With the equation they use for the Engines (from memory, I cba to go look right now), I believe the range was something like 60 to 95 it could use.

So with a changeable engine, you either:
Have it as 60 and 100, meaning certain other mechs would likely be able to take the 60 (Locust, Commando especially should be able to, maybe a few others where the equation works lower than 100 minimum).
Have it as 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95 engines (again, this would likely give access to a few other mechs).
This method would possibly want XL versions too.

This raises problems, as the STD60 in MWOs system would weigh roughly -1.5 tons.
Yes it'll require 8 external Heatsinks (for a total weight of 6.5T), possibly -2T for an XL version.

The STD 65-95 would be the same sort of wierd way.

BUT, if you make the Urbie have a Fixed STD60 Engine + 8 Heatsinks for 9.5 Tons base. (Apply Endo to make it 8T base).

You know, I like this.
A lot.

Nice and easy.
Do that.

It'd make this chart:

'External Slots Required' and the first 'Tons' is removed.

Not sure if your weights are right. I believe these are the correct weights (as per TT). I think the current engines in game also include the Cockpit weight, so add 3 tons to both the STD and XL columns to match current in game Values.

If they add the 10 base heatsinks as dynamic slots, these weights should be correct (and then they can move the 3 tons for the cockpit back into the base weight of the 'mech).

The weights in my chart are correct as per MWO.

It's just the weight of the engine plus the weight of the min heatsinks required.

An MWO STD100 weighs 1 Ton, requiring an additional 6 Heat Sinks for a total of 7 Tons for a STD100 engine.

I think we're both right in that case then, as my STD 100 came to 4 tons. Add the cockpit (3 tons), and hey presto, 7 tons! :D

Yeah, they've just abstracted it all out a bit.

Which is where the problem comes from.

However, not having to manually place the external Heat Sinks, plus having a set number of total slots + weight for an engine would be fantastic.

Make a suggestions thread, link it and you'll have my support! :D

I dunno about that... sounds like effort!

Besides, I'm pretty sure that we don't need ANOTHER "Please make the Urbanmech" thread ;)

wonder if urbie will come out with the pack the Black Knight/other heavy was hinted to be a part of in the original announcement when explaining why they went with grashopper/zeus. sounds like another batch is already in the planning stages

also Panther had been asked for by a decent chunk of folk and other than it's total lack of being an Urbie was one i was hoping to turn up at some point (Valkyrie was my favorite non-urbie light but they who shall not be named have control of it i believe, then Panther)

I fear the clans will just run us over completely once CW arrives. We have no Urbie to defend us. The Inner Sphere might be doomed forever. I have heard rumors of Comstar hiding a stockpile of mechs though, if we're lucky it's endless rows of the mighty Urbanmech.
