Brother 'Target is correct, the Mauler is the disciple of the Great Domed One ... and something about Stalkers.

I see the possible connection, but I think the logic originally was, "Well, we can't have 4 Urbies so lets just cram in the biggest f'ing Urbie-esque assault we could find!"

Mind you this all started before the Cyclops was even out...

...Yeah, we've been around that long... lurking... in the shadows...

The Anihillator has been the servant of the Urban One since the days of the Star League, beginning in 2779. He is a true disciple in his deliberate pace and his choice of weaponry.

Many have forgotten him though, as he was little-known at the time that he went on a great journey across the stars to bear witness to the tenets of Urban defense in the furthest-flung settlements of humanity. Truly, the Mauler was only designed (3038, 3048) after Urbie's early disciple returned with the children of the SLDF from his long sojourn.

The Mauler, while indeed a worthy disciple, is a recent adherent. No less credit should be given due to his recent arrival in our midst.

The Stalker awaited the Urban One's arrival from 2594 untilAnno Urbis Adventum, or 2675. Any given Stalker may be a worthy adherent to the tenets of the Urban One. Indeed, the Facebook Stalker may have been among Urbie's first adherents, first noted itself in 2705.

Rather tham quarrel over the truest disciple, let us not fail to welcome those who would strive to uphold Urbie's cause.

Let the one who would accompany Urbie onto the field of battle be accepted as the truest disciple, as one who would follow Urbie even into a baptism of salt and fire.

/RP off

Lolz.

Really, we should bring whatever makes weight, is remotely close to theme, and perhaps even helps you win (for the greater good of course), with at least 2 Urbies in the deck.

**RP on

House Liao gave sojourn to Urbie through the turbulent years of the Succession Wars, and even recognized his prowess by deploying him into combat. Let us consider that Capellan designs like the Cataphract should not be turned away from service to Urbie's cause as well.

Come one, come all who would follow the Urban One's vision of 360-degree warfare!

There's literally a comic of some sort about this.

It's honestly and genuinely a thing that someone made, with Urbie mounting up in Jagermech as a power-armor frame.

I'd mentioned it before myself, but now I have to track it down. Please stand by.

Example #1, TRO art, noted by another poster:
Spoiler

Example #2, Comic by Shortpainter for Critical Hits (#21), over at NGNG's site:
Spoiler

Also note, Sarna sez production for Jagers in 2774. Coincidence that it's within a century of Anno Urbanis Adventum? I propose instead that it took 100 years to develop power armor worthy of Urbie ;)

Jager checks out as a worthy attendant to Urbie's field maneuvers. It will be especially helpful if PGI ever drops IS tonnage back down to 240 tons ;)

There are those amogst the cult that feel Liao's only redeeming grace in its entire existence is its reverence for Urbie.

I D won't E name V names L but I *someone* N...

...would wipe them from the inner shpere were it not for this.

to throw wrench in the whole "which Assault" debate

The highlander is another Urban defense mech that i always liked to pair with urbies.

"Initially designed as a dedicated city and installation defender"

http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Highlander

a city defended by a couple of lances of urbies backed up by a highlander was a great defensive setup in lore...

Well, to be fair, nobody would dispute the Urbies carrying the Highlanders if you get a good score... ;)

I love HGN. But not sure if my attempts to play lore HGN 732 (in Steiner's list) with Gauss were successful. Combat is too loud to use Gauss in brawl, and i'm too heavy to stay out of it,,
As for non-lore, HGN with AC/10 and SRMs is an unkillable beast in close combat.

I'll say this:

2xUrbies and 2xHighlanders adds up to 240 tons.

There are such things as IIC variants of each.

If we get an UM IIC... That is the official drop deck for CotU

Also, does the Urbie watch over other underappreciated mechs (Uziel, Ice Ferret)?

If, by "watch over" Ferrets, you mean shoot off their limbs and torsos in scouting, then sure.

I dunno if that can work though,. according to the lore of the highlander "there can be only one." you have two in your setup...

Would it work if there were only one of a given variant?
