I want a small sniper but I don't really like the looks of the x5.
I'm so excited about the Nova and the Puma that I am willing to wait .
Anyone know?

I dunno how fast the Nova goes. But no changing clan engines.

The Uller, Puma and Ryoken go 97kmph, or 106.7kmph with speed tweek, a far cry from the speeds a Cicada can reach.
Depending on what you want to snipe with, both the Uller and Puma would probably be a good choice since they can sport some big guns to make up for their lack of engine,

Don't forget the Mad Dog.
Also, on topic of faster lights and mediums, I would like Fire Moth, Phantom, Shadow Cat, Hellhound, and Black Lanner, all pretty fast mediums and lights. And Man O' War is Gargoyle (listed twice as IS and Clan name).

Back in the Vengeance "+" days I used a Duel PPC Puma to dish out sniper damage.
What do you all think of the X5?

The X-5 is a solid Cicada, with missiles to help. It's alright as far as I know as a larger Jenner, and has some spread of hardpoints. The Puma and Nova can't really be compared to the X-5 as it's different to both clan mechs.

The X5 isnt made to be a sniper, it's made to chase light off your buddies. Or just go wreck havok with the light pack, i go down in the trench with mine all the time and get off with a few scratches just like a jenner. Love 2 streak with 4 med l. Gota be super fast though, mine goes at 147kph.

Say that after my Kit Fox punches a hole through your cockpit going 100 km/h while mounting dual ML+Gauss and armor superior to that of your Cicada.

Puma 97 kph
Nova 81 kph
Cicada 129.6 kph
NO Comparison!

On the other hand, both the Adder and Nova can tear the Cicada apart from greater range. It seems to me as long as the clan pilot has good aim, the Cicada is severely outgunned and outmatched.

The kit Fox is a long range sniper with good mobility, not a light brawler (but the Clan streaks should still be enough to keep any spider off your ass).
If the Cicada is a big jenner, the Kit Fox is a small Viktor.
Also more than the X5, the Puma will contend with the Hunchback for the Laser boat medium title

But Clan heavies seems to be faster than the IS heavies. Summoner, Timber Wolf, Hellbringer, Mad Dog are all 86 Kph as stock.
That's fast for a heavy. Most IS mechs are in the 64 Kph category but they can get bigger engines.
Fact is that Clan lights may have better armor and much more firepower than IS lights, but they can't fill the role of scout as well as the IS lights.
For now that is.
