1) Hold down whatever button you use to center legs to to torso.

2) While holding that button down, steer without using a or d, but instead with your mouse aimer by looking in the direction you want to turn.

Used to be able to use a similar trick to warp your torso by hitting Armlock after looking at something with CTRL. There was a period of time you could take a slow-twisting mech, 'look' elsewhere with your arms, and instantly have your torso facing that direction by hitting armlock.

Game's full of 'em.
