I let it patch the game today, then try to log in only to get this error. I've run the patcher several times, all I get is a "play!" button now. If I delete a few random files, it wants to download 4gb of files (at 5 hours due to high use).
I've run the repair tool twice with all options, clicked and "FIX" with no solution. What gives?? Not a very fun "Apr 1st" joke...

Well I ran it a few times until I got a decent speed, still has the same problem. Now I'm going to uninstall & reinstall.

make sure your firewall allows outgoing connections to port 80,
specifically make sure the mwo client process can hit: http://patcher.mwome...n/live_info.xml

I uninstalled & reinstalled the game, still the same error. I added an exception for MWO to the windows firewall, same problem. I added a port rule for the firewall, same problem. I even turned off the firewall, same problem. I looked at the file you linked to, and the numbers match my "build_info.xml" file exactly.
My only other idea is to bypass my router, but that's far from optimal & the patch is the ONLY change so far. I just want to unload a few rounds. I had a really crappy afternood snaking out my damned sewer...

Hmm that is a bit of a doozy... can you confirm that in your game folder the build_info.xml file matches the live_info.xml file at the URL? It should match based on what you said, but other than not being able to connect, a version mismatch is the only other thing that could be showing that dialog. The mechanism of connecting to the URL is relying on a Windows API call, so unless your Windows install has issues I can't really think of anything else to try... maybe open up command line as administrator, and run "sfc /verifyonly"? ( http://www.howtogeek...a-system-files/ )
If the files match, the firewall isn't blocking the connection, and your windows install seems fine, then perhaps I can convince someone here to add a feature to allow users to force bypassing the message or something... but even if we do that, it wouldn't make it out for a few patch cycles :/

note: another user had a similar problem, which was resolved by doing a windows update
