You can do the nearly same with a Banshee S with 10 tons more room.

I like your non-meta approach. I myself am a SRM-LPL lover.

BNC-3S

You sacrifce 6km/h for better armor, more heatsinks, 1 ton more AMS ammo and overall better survivability because its no stalker with fast-to-go side torsos.

But I still have to ask: Why 4 weapon groups? Its not that easy to control so many different weapons in combat. I often max out my mechs at 3.

Its not 4 firing groups necessarily. LPL could if you wanted too fire with the MLs, and the ASRM6 and LBX can fire on one group while in brawling range no problem.
1st firing: group MLs
2nd: LPL
3rd: LBX+ASRM6

Mine is in 3 groups. Lpl and LBX are linked. ASRM is on zoom wheel, mediums trigger 2. Technically I have a 4th, with the mediums chained, and a 5th with just the LBX for running hot, but those are on thumb buttons and so far have not been used.

simple.

Because this load out brawls better, and also is good for critting. I run it, because I have tried the cookie cutter builds (as mentioned in the OP) and didn't like them. I built this on a whim, and am loving it. If my LB and LPL are being effective how is that a waste of tonnage?

I just feel naked without some semblance of ranged fire. On some maps, it takes so long to get into brawling range that a lot of fights are over by the time you get there if you take the best cover routes.

Hell, go crazy and put an MG in the ballistic slot :)

Glad you're liking the Misery. It's hit-or-miss for me at times. If you find yourself the least bit out of position you don't have speed or mobility on your side. But if you do it right it's a brutal frontal assault machine.

I generally run with AC20, LPL, PPC, 2ML, Std 300, Endo. I group the AC20 and LPL for 30pt hits, PPC for range, and MLs just because I have the tonnage. When you get into that sweet spot (90-270m) you can dump 50 pts dmg at a time.

This is my old Misery build. Little out of date with the AMS buff. Have to drop 2 sinks for it and max out the armor. This monster would alpha strike any mech in existence to death and not over-heat. Of course it's sticky short range. So the current game meta it's kinda out classed. Unless you get in someone's grill. Then they're bonned.

Hehe... I've killed a loooooot of people in this thing.

I have a similar loadout to yours Bishop, Misery.

It's designed it to be a dedicated brawler that's less vulnurable to side torso losses. The CT Large Laser and using an Artemis SRM6 make sure you always got some punch if you loose the AC20. The lone CT Large Laser also net you more kill assists at medium range and let you keep some energy firepower if either side torso is lost.

I think the non-meta approach you have is awesome! I used to run a similar build using a UAC instead of the LBX.

I notice you have 4xMLs paired with the LPL... I'm not terribly a fan of that because it's kind of hard to edge-hump (you know, peak around a corner shoot then back up a bit).

My current build is a hybrid-meta; 1xPPC 1xAC20 2xLL. I put both LLs in the right arm, so I can shoot around corners or other mechs while not fully presenting myself, with the PPC/AC20 combo for devastating face-to-face fights. It runs hot, so I keep coolshot for emergencies.

The Misery is a very awesome mech no matter how it is built, you will not regret the purchase!

LPL in the CT allows me to fight after I get winged. And I am not looking to be a jack of all trades, this is a pure brawler build.

So this is the Misery build I've been seeing on Smurfy's statistics page. Interesting build there Bishop. You might be on to something with the LBX/SRM combo. :P

oh don't get me wrong, I still think it's grossly inferior in almost all cases to the AC10. 11 tons is a heavy tax for what is largely a crit weapon. It just happens to work well in conjunction with this build (IMO) and tbh, I like the perforated heat shield.

I still think the LB-X needs considerable re-tooling.

Huh. Now what does the statistics page actually tell us? (what defines "hot build")

Shrugs. Either way, cool to be seen, I reckon!

I freakin love the Misery. It's just amazing how one ballistic hard point can totally change how a chassis plays.

ahhh you have embraced the ways of non-lrm stalkers Bish! Though not a M, our guys call it the "dozier" because hell, I guess because I have used it so long.

2 er large, rest meds, all missles srm or ssrm.

lights turn tail, takes a pounding, great multi range, just chain up close srms and meds and most everyone decides they made a mistake up close.

When this seasons bike is done I have been wanting to get an M for a build similar. I normally run lights and meds, but when I drink Dos Equis its in a Stalker

I happen to love the AC20 and I add 3 LPLs on mine but I also like the LBX-10. I think I will try this build out because I really want to use the missile point.

Thanks Bishop!

Also thanks to everyone else for posting some great Misery builds. ;)

I played all my stalkers with smashface brawl builds of various lasers + SRM/SSRM. So Misery was a pretty easy choice for me, and AC20 was what I decided to build around. I enjoy LBX, haters gonna hate, I run T T T TRIPLE LBX Ilya. Some people say LBX is really bad. I say, they should pick their targets with it better.

Anyway, if you are not an Assault master, then the best advice is this: watch you own paperdoll as much, no, more then your enemy. You are to FAT to really escape a fight, or dodge(lol) etc, so you ust present the enemy with the target YOU want him to shoot.

Especially true in FATLAS, but almost as much so in Stalker, because it turns rather slow. For instance, I have an AC20. The enemy, they know it, and they wants to take my precious! THEY MUSTNT TAKES MY PRECIOUS! So, after piloting other stalkers as facesmashers, you get pretty good at timing when to twist, and show'em your pretty side. Not to the point they can blow it off obviously, but given the choice of eating an alpha to my empty missile, or my precious, I let them shoot my empty missile. Then I look back at them, they say "oh ****" and I shoot them with facewreckz alphastrike of AC20 and ML/LL.

If you dont do this, or more simply I guess, dont do it enough, the Misery with a "premier" type weapon loadout like AC20 or gauss, well, it can have some bad times matches. Think about it, you run mediums. When you see a Misery, you think, as most good medium and light pilots do, " that is a Misery. it has a gun. I want to shoot it in the back, but barring that, I want to take it's precious!" So you will maneuver around to try to do those things, in that order. As the Misery now, your response is, put your ass to a wall(causing them to now try to take your precious instead as they have lost the srprz butse3ks option) and then offer the missile side to them to shoot, protecting the precious.

With a more balanced loadout like your with the SRM, this still applies, but now you offer them the side that has less dmg, or less ammo. If you are cooking off, then you show the side that creates more heat(SRM) as you likely wouldnt fire it at that moment anyway.

it takes some practice to get good at, but it makes all the difference in a match.
