Soooo,

I managed to not die in 5 seconds inflicting only 18 damage lol...

I've noticed several things about my own tactics (which are wrong) vs certain situations:

- Gungho is a no no. Rushing into a fight is a great way to get creamed. I dont like sitting around, and some team members have the gaul to get angry about that, but its too bad.. I've played support too many times to find i cover the guys back and then my back is left to get grilled...

- Spazzing out. you get shellshocked and quickly try and get your crosshair in line to return fire, and inflict a whopping 5 damage because you were too busy weeing your panties. Anyone remember that Clint Eastwood movie unforgiven... The guy who doesn't get rattled and is slow and takes aim is the one to worry for.

- Proper use of weapons. The AC20 is only decent when the mech is infront and looking to brawl, otherwise use of lasers and srms as much as possible. even then, gotta watch the ole aim.

At the moment I have lrms but i can see myself trading them off for another SRM.. as much as a like supporting and firing from afar (and the obvious assist cbill bonus) it's not really going to help me develop my skills. i traded off one large laser for the ER PPC, since the two are quite a nasty combo for inflicting some damage (when aimed properly), and great for scaring people at a distance into doing something stupid.

Thanks for the build tips. I think I've kinda spent enough and made a not very decent build of this atlas, and It's smarter at this point to start saving for the DC and make a decent build for him.

Thanks again.

Glad you figured out that gung ho is a no-no. The problem with assaults in general is that they are so slow. It is easy to get either left behind if the main battle shifts, or at the rear of your pack if everyone else decides to push. They are best when they keep up with the rest of the team. Let the lights and faster mechs figure out where the main battle is taking place, then adjust your heading accordingly. If your team stops for any reason, keep moving a little bit, but if they start retreating, find a good defensible position to cover their retreat. Just be aware that this could put you in danger. They can do A LOT of damage, but having all that armor and weapons is no guarantee of doing A LOT of damage. Just never, ever, ever go off alone in an atlas. Enemy lights will find you and paper cut you to death.

Good job there my friend. Take your time with the game and you'll improve significantly. There will come a day when you break the 1000 damage barrier, and not realize how far you've improved until you remember these olden days. XD.

See you on the battlefield.
