Team Mates & The Atlas

been playing more & of course gradually getting better, doing more damage per match, getting kills, etc etc.
just wanted to say a few points regarding a few things that I encountered often:
- Don't block the back of the god damn atlas pilot... Several times I've gone in to support a mech, pot shotted the guy around a corner, and gone to back off and I find some moron up my ass blocking my retreat and leaving me unable to move from fire and get shredded. He was so far up my ass I didnt notice him on the radar... I lost my two side torsos and arms due to his being a wuss and wanting to use me as a shield.... which brings me to my next point:
- The atlas isn't a walking shield to help you survive. No offense, but Hiding behind me whilst I take a pounding and you fire from behind me usually means you're hitting me more than the enemy and just helping them take out the assault mech on your team... which is also my next point:
- watch your line of fire. Several times I walk in to pound a mech and find an idiot running into my line of fire to kill steal.. in the past I'd stop shooting to avoid hitting a team mate... which meant I'd end up being a sitting duck. I'm done with that though.. if you're stupid enough to walk into my line of fire... I'm shredding you regardless. Also... Like the last point, support the atlas, don't just stand behind it, he is hitting from the front, so hit the back of a mech. I've had afew team mates smart enough to do this and we downed the other teams mechs like nothing and I finished the match with 70 percent armor.
- Don't order the Atlas around like you know what's best. I had afew idiots telling me to rush in and how it would have meant us winning the match. On the snow level where everyone goes for the plateu, this is the WORST map for the atlas, since hill climb makes him a huge target, and with the low arms, hitting anything is difficult and impossible for a brawler at best. It's not the Atlas job to die to help you last longer.... And if you are too stupid to actually see the situation and think barking half assed orders at an assault like its his job to tank for you... well.. you're an idiot...
I've been having a lot more fun as of late as I relax and understand the game mechanics more. took adjusting since I'm used to the old mechwarrior games and when you're armor turned yellow, that meant you'd taken significant damage, whereas here it's just notifying you that that area was hit, even for a measly 1 point...lol.. no need to get frazzled or panic like the old games...
However, one thing hampering the fun I have is afew idiots in some matches... I hope they add an Enemies List to the game.... X)

This is more of a "Don't be a moron and block the back of ANY friendly mech". I died earlier because I couldn't back into cover away from LRM's because a Thunderbolt thought a Jenner would make a good meat shield (wtf?).
If you absolutely must shadow someone, ffs follow behind and to the side.
I regularly use Atlas' as moving cover, but then I primarily use Meds and Lights. I can count the number of times I've hit a friendly while doing this on one hand. Other than flanking (not always possible), this is one of the few ways to get a Medium into brawling range without taking significant damage. What's bad is when it's a conga line of assaults marching into an Opfor firing line.
Overall though, bang on.

But the fact is only small portion of this gaming community actually come to this or any gaming forum and those that do are probably not the problem, but as I said very valid points.

Yep, every Atlas pilot has had this happen..
I find their (teammates) lack of situational awareness disturbing.

True, a lighter mech has the ability to turn out of the way. But the fact remains that we shouldn't have to. Regardless of mech, you ought to be able to peek around a corner and back up necessary.
Especially in the late game when you're more likely to be beaten up.

this catapult attacked a cat on my team, so I thought I'd cover the poor guy give him a chance to retreat since Im too slow to do so... and what does the idiot do?
HE BACKS RIGHT INTO ME FULL SPEED!
the damage for me wasnt a biggie, but he BLOCKED my torso shots hitting the other guy, and took damage from ME... and then because of him the guy was able to down him and ME lol...
unreal how stupid some people are... worst part is he didnt even apologize and some other idiot was bitching at me for shooting one of our own...
please for the love of god add an Enemies list so i can toast these MechFodder....
My builds coming along nicely, not sure not whether to dump the money i have into a 340 engine or get double heat sinks and the engine later.

DHS? Ditch His Ass? Thing is they were coming over the hill flanking us.. retreat was not an option for me, they could have killed me from the back so i gave them my side and then decided to do the "right" thing and help the little guy who could help the team with his LRMs... a mistake I wont make again, I'll just try and cover my own metallic butt

As a reply to your initial post: I totally understand where you're coming from. I don't play any assault 'Mechs yet, but I get that they're slow to respond. And while nobody should be so close that you can't back up if necessary, there's something else to consider.
Many people (Atlas pilots and others alike) view the Atlas as a rallying point, or the spearhead of a push through enemy lines. They're going to get close to the Atlas for protection, and they don't expect the Atlas to be beating a retreat. If you're not set to charge, or (as I saw in a couple matches early today) you're an LRM boat...maybe letting people know that you're NOT about to rush enemy lines would keep them from jumping on your back for a free ride.
It's not just Atlai that have this problem. In the absence of an Atlas, Stalkers or other large 'Mechs become the focus. Players have to learn to leave a little space.
As for your other "problem"...if they're dumb enough to walk in front of your fire to try and KS, they deserve what they get.

ah, I thought as much. The engine means some extra speed, but as a brawler speed isnt a priority, bringing on the pain is and overheating and shutting down means a big ass dead target. I'll leave the engine upgrade for last then.
Problem is I try and talk to the team as much as possible, sadly few are interested in talking or taking tactics seriously. and whenever anyone tells me to frontline, i point out im a brawler build and not that kind of build.. going out in the open means i get torn to shreds, and until I sort out my DHS and see my overall weight, I can bump up from the MedLaser/MedPulselaser on my arms for something more substantial.

Shooting them and screaming in chat "STOP RIDING MY NUTS!" has also been known to discourage such behavior.

I have created a fancy guide for the new pilots.
Read it here: http://mwomercs.com/...he-new-players/
And please add your valueable tips there! New or not, any tips is a good tip.

I had one guy say "oh the friendly fire on that atlas"... um... There was a boars head atlas infront of me taking aim so i shot him, and you went in for a kill steal but were too late and my LBX hit you for a whopping 2 points... yeah I'm such a horrible guy...
I got 2 kills and 418 damage that match... and we won... yet that was all he could think to say....
