Wasted only because everyone hates it. Your statement is only true if everyone turns it off in which it is PGI who did the dumb thing putting it in. Actually, I would guess only 90% hate it as some seem to like its "immersion", However, I hate it and film grain cuz it makes the graphics suck. Anyone who was in early CB knows how good the graphics can look. 12-man also had a huge impact on fidelity too.

I've been playing since the start of open beta so film grain isn't something that bothers me as I have no way to compare. With regard to cockpit glass, all I really cared about was that strange coloured reflection I kept seeing on certain maps, which depending if you faced a certain direction could impact your ability to see your HUD aiming reticule. They have since fixed this and so cockpit glass is no longer an issue for me personally. My original concern was instanced because I want to see players using it to maintain a level playing field for all, especially once they implement cracked glass. Being shot enough in the head will have an actual impact on your vision.

I agree, they wasted their time completely on this feature, it brought nothing to the game except for a few, who insisted that you need dirty cockpit glass to make you fell like you were there, and not sitting in a chair in your spare/bedroom, shouting F.U at people 1000 miles away.

while it caused discomfort and reduced enjoyment for as many.

So how many of you use motion blur, I'm curious

I don't know if anybody actually asked for this feature. Who asked for it? Other mech games already have cockpit glass. I felt that PGI did it to compete with them.

I usually have motion blur turned off. Although I have had it left on after several patches and it didn't bother me too much.

I really don't get why people are still complaining about it so much. I guess it was a bit too noticeable at first implementation, but I don't see the problem any more. Quite frankly, as I've said before; if that tiny bit of light refraction messes with your aim, then you're either A) Not a very good player ;) Can't adapt or C) Value your competitive gameplay way too much.

Seriously, if I wanted an arcade style mech game stripped down to its bare essentials in order to have maximum efficiency, I'd play MW4.

"discomfort"??? LOL!

I mean, saying that cockpit glass "reduced enjoyment" of the game is funny, but saying that it causes "discomfort" is just laugh out loud funny.

Well I guess I might as well put in my 2 cents, I love it.

The fact that you could see where the glass was supposed to be, even the edges of the frame, but no actual glass or blemishes always bugged me. Now we have it the feeling of being in the mech is far greater.

I certainly haven't had any problems playing with it on either.

So now anyone playing with Cockpit Glass ON is at an immediate disadvantage against those that will turn it off because they don't like the immersion.

This reminds me of those "pro" players that play in all LOW graphical options so that their "talent" won't be hindered by trivial things like more realistic graphics and stupid immersion. We just need to see the walls, the enemy and the crosshair. All other graphics are superfluous. Let's just remove everything and have the game play out in a grid outline. That way nothing can get in the way of those "pro" players and their kills...

The option to turn off the glass should be available only for private matches and recording videos and so on, NOT for playing the game. If I know that my opponents are playing with a clear cockpit glass and I'm handicapping myself to play with the glass ON then it feels a bit ********. It is good that everyone should have to learn to play but giving a choice to the players just removes the whole cockpit glass idea entirely. This is not an even playing field if some people just remove the glass. It's as simple as that.

So no, having an option to remove the glass is an idiotic idea and it also means that the whole development time they spend on implementing it goes to waste.

I don't approve at all about this change.

there is no advantage with it on or off.

This is just more of the "community" complaining the moment something, no matter how trivial, changes.

If it interferes with my ability to see it has an advantage like knocking from ac's and missiles. if cracks are added and they interfere with vision they i have to turn it off or im at a disadvantage to the people who also turn it off.

Does ARMA have sweat and goggle fogging affecting your vision.... how about CS of COD or any of the other FPS..... I'm going with NO.

Sorry but this is just another example of PGI's psychotic design process. Is this a FPS or MECH SIM.....

that is a completely different thing. yes cracks very likely would interfere with your vision. that doesn't mean the toggle for cockpit glass will have anything to do with the glass cracking at some future point.

also, I don't care what ARMA or COD does or doesn't do. If I did, I'd be playing them instead of this.

This effect does actually affect some people physically. It is also a lot more prevalent to some more than others.

Altho the cockpit glass doesn't effect me, "3D" in any format causes headaches and nausea after 30 seconds to me. It's actually more than 'discomfort'. Vision is subjective, so just because it works for you and you can't even understand it, does not mean it doesn't effect others differently. I see this as no different as changing the colors for people who are color blind.

I enjoy the cockpit glass effects and am glad they added it. While I don't exactly agree with them allowing people to disable it, I also don't really care so long as it is not removed.
