It's more subtle than flaming but gets the same point across: That someone, somewhere, hates your words.

Edit: An ANONYMOUS dislike button. Avoid retaliatory flaming that detracts from the subject at hand.

So they can dislike and flame you? I mean I can see where your coming from, but haters gonna hate, dislike button or not.

Bad idea, as people will then degrade into just shouting opinions and spamming dislike without justification and intelligent argument. Good ideas come from a pile of bad ideas, but no ideas comes from silence. You also can't begin to imagine the amount of people who won't even bother reading and just hit dislike.

No dislike button. That would just give the flamers a foothold and we don't want that.

Too much hate in this world as it is.

I've seen forums both with and without Dislike buttons. Keep this one Dislike free please.

As I've understood it, and I'll confess in advance here that I'm far newer to forums than I am to Mechwarrior, flaming is based on extensive and pointlessly hostile responses on the thread. I'm not seeing how a dislike button would make that easier? Seems they'd do it anyway..

I also might've framed the suggestion wrong. The first part of my suggestion was meant to be a more convenient and quantitative way of determining how many people either like or dislike an idea without having to debate each individual post leading to those long-sprawling threads where poster 3 disagrees with poster one, but posters 4-8 disagree with poster 3, and poster 10-12 disagree with posters 4-8, etc.

Dislikes aren't constructive and don't contribute anything to a forum but more negativity that we don't need.

It is ironic that everyone dislikes the idea of a dislike button. :)

no dislike, that promote negativity more. We want positive community not a negative. There is nothing wrong with debates but I feel that a dislike button would promote some negativity, something we do not need.

If you're going to dislike something, you should have to guts to have your name public.

No thank you. It mutates into a crapfest really quickly, with people trolling the forum to obtain minuses(Some sort of sport at the WoT forums), kids getting al teary because someone has disliked the post, and general anonymous trolling.

I would really enjoy this feature.

And that's why you should not implement it.

Righto', I yield to the more experienced forum-folks inputs. Terrible idea. Although, it would have potentially reduced this thread to 2 or 3 likes and 11 dislikes XD
