Feedback? Complaint? Yes

So after a few months break (the 4th I've had to take) waiting for PGI to get their act together, April came calling with the promise of fixes and fun. So far they've delivered to satisfactory levels and when PGI actually gets some work done I like to reward them. Instead of being burned again by purchasing mechs that will become obsolete/useless I decided on good ole'fashion premium time to build up some credits and sit on them till the clans are released.

So, on a good night with the dozen or so matches I can fit in before burning out and needed to play a game with real depth... I can make around 1.2-1.5mil credits just pugging it up. After purchasing a week of premium time my earnings barely crested 2mill a night. Once again I feel burned and ripped off. That's two strikes PGI, and I won't be purchasing anymore premium time either.

Uhm ... 1.2 - 1.5mil CB times 1.5 equals 1.8 - 2.25mil CB.

So your complaint is that you got EXACTLY what the description said(50% more) ?

That's what I get for thinking premium time was just as effective as the last time I bought some a year ago. My complaint is still valid as I'm very disappointed with it. Also they seriously need some better documentation as when you search "premium time" on this very site the first thing that comes up is "Premium Time confusing as a new player" http://mwomercs.com/...s-a-new-player/

When you purchase premium time in the in-game store it says 50%+ CB and XP in perfectly understandable english.

You've got your complaint wrong.

You're not disappointed in Premium Time.

You're disappointed in the reduction in base rewards that happened when 12v12 took over from 8v8. The reduced extra rewards from Premium Time is just an extension of that.

Premium Time still gives 50% boosts to C-Bills and XP. No reason to be disappointed when something gives exactly what it advertises.

I'd be upset with premium time if i used it as it is all consumed or nothing. So far i have 10 days of premium time in the bank that i can't really ever use as i have 1 maaaybe 2 nights per week of game time. let us burn 1 day at a time and I'll start using it. And 50% bonus sounds good to me on top of the hero mech bonus.

Same for me, not being an every day player, I really can not make use of the premium time. Don't forget, some of us are family ppl...

That ten days you got for free. No reason NOT to use it now, if your schedule isn't going to change any time soon. Right now you're getting exactly ZERO use out of it. If you turn it on, at least you'll get a day or two of use out of it. Or maybe because you know you turned it on, you'll find ways to play more during those 10 days.

Or, you could save your banked Premium Time and simply buy new Premium Time in one-day bites if you know you'll have a good amount of time to play that day. Yes, you can buy new PT while keeping your existing PT banked.

Buy PT in one-day chunks, when you know you'll have a good amount of time to play. Problem solved.

Or, you could buy the 360-day package, which works out to be $8 per month. That's cheaper than any MMO subscription.

Or PGI could try to accomodate us since we are the customers and making some easier and more attractive means more sales.

Appreciate the workarounds though. i might buy a day and test but still for me it is a clunky system that could use some work to make it more flexible.

I'd buy more Premium Time if the time was used up according to the time you spent in matches, rather than activating instantly and then just running down to nothing regardless of whether you're in-game or not.

If we had an alternative model for number of matches, I'd expect something like this:
Posted Image

MC Prices for #-match packs are roughly estimated to have a good balance for the low-number of games packs and a better value if you play more for the #-days packs.

Anything below 100% is better for # of matches and anything above 100% is better for day-packages.
For example, if you want to know what is better for a weekend:
- Expecting to play 5 matches on one day only would mean 160MC for 5 matches vs 250MC for 1 Day = 64% cost for the #match packages and you take this one.

- Expecting to play at least 15 matches , but not more than 30 for the weekend?
The 15-match pack is at 176% price compared to 1-day pack or only 68% compared to 3-day pack and the 25-matches pack is a bit more expensive than the 3-day pack.
If you want to play more than 25 games over 3 days, you are taking the cheaper 3-day pack.

- Expecting to play less than 50 games in 7 days?
The 50-match pack will be 1200MC vs the 7-day pack at 1250MC and roughly the line between day/match package efficiency.
I think this might be too good for the match-pack.

Solid idea Reno, but I'd hate for my premium matches to be used up on the odd round where something strange kicks up and my mech's trashed inside a couple of minutes, or I'm forced out the round. Can see a lot of complaints arising given current state of disconnects, crashes etc. that are still plaguing the game.

I think it would just be nice to be able to play the game without it crashing every time I try to log on. You're lucky.

PGI has already given you 10 FREE days of Premium Time. [redacted] Some greed on your part, I sense...

Yeah, that's the problem with the per-match way of doing PT, which is the only viable alternative to the current system. Support would be flooded with complaints and requests for refunds from people who can't seem to stay connected, as well as those who would take advantage of the situation by Alt-F4ing as they are dying.

Sure there is some gree on my part but as a paying customer I don't feel they have suffered since I joined. What I am trying to say is that as it stands premium time (whether it was given to me or not) is simply not flexible enough for me to consider using it let alone spend money on buying any. Some greed on their part too I'd say. Should i only be allowed to consider buying a day at a time because my life situation means i can't put aside days at a time?

Would you say being allowed to portion up the premium time is better or worse than the current one click to use it all system?

if it was more flexible i'd use what I have and when used I'd probably buy more. But no, telling the wife she has to watch the kids for a week cause i just started using my premium time is not gonna fly -_-

The current premium time system does seem a bit inflexible and aimed at those with unlimited play time on their hands, Perhaps charging more for premium time that only runs while you actually play might work?

Anyway, the current system has already made me filthy rich -_-

Eh, for me it's whatever at this point. This last patch really borked my game. I haven't been able to play in a week and I've got premium time counting down. I'm attempting to give a damn, but last time I had this problem support said, "sorry, sucks to be you."

What do you mean, "only be allowed to consider buying a day at a time..." !?!? PGI offers 1-day, 3-day, and 7-day chunks for purchase. That's pretty damn flexible, considering the alternative for MMOs is a 30-day subscription you have to pay whether you play 1 day or 29 days.

View PostSelbatrim, on 09 April 2014 - 01:13 PM, said:

Considering that the only people who have banked Premium Time are those who purchased packages which included PT as a freebie or otherwise got the PT for free, it doesn't matter.

You and a lot of players have a life, so you cannot play as often as you might like. That's awesome (or sucks, depending on your viewpoint). PGI offers flexible bonus time purchases for people like you.

Complaining about not being able to milk every last second out of something you got at no cost to you is pretty damn childish.

I think this thread needs to be retitle as "very dissapointed in C-bill reductions" otherwise the only problem with prem time is casuals shouldn't touch the stuff as it burns away whilst you're offline. only usefull if your a 3-hour-a-day man or play more than that.

I have 3+ months of it sitting there as it was incoporated into packs and giveaways, I daren't activate it because I can't afford to get my monies worth out of it. I have a life+job away from the game pgi.

these days i'm lucky to get 3 hours a week in, that's so many days of my spent mony being burned away. just have it active on log in and deactivate on log out. so if you waste it in the mech lab your fault, and if you want to spam matches to get the most out of it fine but should we be punished for attending to loved ones needs, work, meals and sleep? i don't think so.
