Idea: Remove Turrets Add Destructable Reactor.

It would have a good amount of hit points and ecm. the ecm would prevent noobs from just lrm bombing, it would require a scout to get close with tag for example, or mechs would have to get close and blow it up. once the reactor is destroyed the base can be capped.
Base vs Base games are becoming worse than before, not because of game balance, but because its making the matches stall and boring.
If you move out to far into the map to fight other mechs you will get hit with bot lrms, or you will be targetd by bot spotting you.
so both sides spend the first 5 minutes of a base vs base match sitting in their base hoping the other team is foolish enough to leave their base.
After 5 minutes both sides know the other side is not charging the base, then both sides slowly creep out trying to kill other mechs.
then after a boring battle, one side has 1 or 2 mechs left, who then flee back to their base, hide, power down, and the game then drags on another 5 to 10 minutes while the turrets are detroyed and the base is capped or the guy is killed.
its not hard, its not about gameplay balance, its not about winning or losing, its about I want to get into my match and fight, not sit in my base for 10 minutes.

Pfft. Noobs prefer to snipe that reactor over 2X LRM range using AC2s and Gauss.

I would call that playing smart... Yes it changes the game dynamic to something much more then mech smash.....
Play team death match if you dont like turrets. It's what people QQ for after all the lights took there base. people should have been sitting in there base waiting for the lights to cap... but no people need to rush out for there favorite pew pew spot. making for a very linear form of game play.

Then we can buff the cap module by a bit because it's exclusively for conquest now.
^ Probably a really dumb idea, but it'd be fun to actually... well... attack a base instead of standing around it like a bunch of people at a water cooler.

I have never seen that in a fight have you?
Turrets defend the base Reactor destroys the base that IS the objective of Assault. Destroyed objective how do you win?

Sorry, I thought this was a 'post your stupid ideas about Assault' thread.
@OP There is a great single player campaign I think you would like. It's called 'Training Grounds'.

So hide each reactor that powers all turrets, in a place that cant get hit by long range. You have to get in and crush em. "Close with and Destroy the Enemy by Fire and Maneuver"
Mission object,
1. Kill all mechs
2. Most kill on time out wins.
3. Cap enemy base.
4. Destroy enemy Reactor and all turrets ( this one I dont know about) Could be to easy to do.

I was not too fond of those. But ...
A long time ago, in a place far far away, the girls and boys in my neighborhood regularly played "war" using peashooters of our own designs and construction. Then one day someone ( ) had the bright idea of switching to bows and arrows and we all went home building them ... and suddenly the parents intervened.

Now, I do think they merit further tweaking. However, I'd rather see them stay. Heck, it would be better to take your idea and expand it into a new game mode that involved destroying / defending objectives.

I think a few game modes that are wholly objective based would be the best thing for this game. People keep going on about role warfare, give some game modes where the goal is more nuanced than "shoot red triangles".

My folks got mad the summer I learned how to use Shuriken by using the ash wood picnic table as my target...
Parents can be no fun sometimes... I know this from both ends of that perspective

If maps were BIG like in MW4 or MWLL, Id say "HECK ya" Lets do some Escort missions or something. But with escort missions, they would all end up taking the same route and the OpFor would wait and pick em in the kill zone. So it would be fun for 1-2 days unless it was "Dynamic".
With the size of maps now, a light can clear it in nothing flat, or at least get in range of the enemy unit to spot. They are just not big enough to maneuver appropriately.
<Edit> Some solely Defend the base while one team assaults, or a drop ship mode where one team is on deck and the other team drops in all over would be great fun ( would help with clan balance if they dont get weapons right). There is alot they could do. Was just shooting out an Ideal.
