I can't really tell exactly what it is, but this mech suddenly feels like it's stuck in mud when it comes to turning. The agility that made this mech work simply seems to be gone.
Anyone else noticed worse turning performance on the Centurion, the Yang specifically?

Was The Centurion ( Or More Specifically Yang ) Nerfed?

For me the biggest change I've seen is with the weapons that make the Yang work best. Nerfing the gaus and AC20 has made the Wang just an ordinary mech which sucks because we spent real money on it not MWO money. I've had to tweak the crap out of my config file along with changes ingame to make the Yang even worth taking in to battle and that's just barely. It used to be my favorite mech. But yeah it's just not the same

To be honest, I've had much better results in the Yang once I opted to drop the Gauss/AC20 in favor of a pair of AC5s (recently dropped for a pair of AC2s as well for better suppressive fire) and that long before the Gauss nerf that introduced the charge mechanic. I've been piloting it again after a long hiatus from MWO and I'm having a lot of fun zooming around with my XL 255, max armor and 2 MLas for some semi-zombie action.

I was unable to put in 2 AC5' but I have run 2 AC2's. They generate alot of heat but are fun because you can shoot a crap load of them
I still run it every now and then but I'm not as happy with it as I used to be.

The manuverablility of the Wang does not to me, seem to have decreased, rather it has become a bit easier to hit an mech doing 95-105kph. That, in addition to the AC20 now firing at a lower velocity and the Gauss being locked to a charge mechanic make it harder to simply go out with a Wang and do well in all ranges. Why? Well, when brawling, an AC20 is still a beauty of course, but before the velocity nerf, you could actually use it alot longer distance than strictly was intended. A good number of us could nail shots at 400, even 500 meters with an AC20. Sure, it was only about 10 damage at 540 meters, and dropped to NO damage at about 810 meters, but as was finally noted by the developers, it was doing more damage than the AC10 at 450meters. That had to change.
So now, even if you have the skill to hit, you're probably using the AC20 a bit more conservatively in the 300-400 range of course. At that range, the 2 medium laser don't do you much good either, so really what's changed is that functionally you could be a mid range fighter who got better in close before, but now all your weapons are best up close and you have to survive to get into range for that brawl. Something that is harder to do now, given missiles are back and the direct fire meta is still dominant. So that Wang, by being over specialized is particularly suffering now that medium to long range is even more dominant after those AC velocity nerfs.
What can you do to make your Yeng Lo Wang better again? Dunno for sure. I've found some success dropping from my old build of Ac 20, 2 medium lasers and about 6-7 tons of Ac 20 ammo, to Ac 20 and an ER Large Laser. It's a slower build, no longer packing the XL300, going instead with something more like a 280-285. But it's got more kick at range, while only losing a single point of "firepower". Further, I think the ER Large runs a bit cooler than two mediums. Only regret is the ammo is more conservatively 4 tons or so. Also, many of the previous Ac 20 and 2 medium laser builds, had tonnage to spare for an AMS system, if they didn't mind carrying quite so much ammo. With this ER Large Laser version, not so much and you are slower too. Still, played intelligently, your 95kph is enough to make it from cover to cover.
Best remember also that the Yeng Lo Wang is awesome when it comes to Module Slots. Advanced Zoom, Target Information gathering and both an Air Strike and an Artillery Strike can be a good loadout. Substituting the Seizmic or 360 targeting sensors can help you considerably if you have the occasional issues with situational awareness. Even the UAV can sometimes be worthwhile on the Wang, as you may end up larking right into a formation of enemy mechs and your best hope for survival then is to start bobbing and weaving through their midst rather than just standing there in one location firing at one, while three or four safely obliterate you. When this happens, pop the UAV and let your missile buddies know where the action is at. Likely the enemy won't even note the UAV going up cause they are busy killing you.
