Looking at the stats, I think the stormcrow will be winning. The preliminary stats make it look like an overgrown raven.

Also, I think the least common clan mech after launch will be the warhawk, and most common the timberwolf (of course) followed by the nova and direwolf.

As of right now without knowing which other configuration are going to be added I'd say either the Timberworlf or Dashi

I would say that it is a draw between the Dire Wolf Prime and the Warhawk Prime. The Dire Wolf has the edge in weaponry with 4 CER Large Lasers, 4 CMPLs, 2 UAC5s, and a CLRM10 but the Warhawk has the edge in range with 4 CERPPCs and a CLRM10. I plan on using the Warhawk more because of this, more speed, maneuverability, and 60 pin point damage out to at least 810 meters. You just have to be careful not to alpha or instant suicide.

Kit Fox is slow and has Locust armor.

Adder is slow.

Nova is sub-par in terms of speed for mediums (but not horrible) and is overly reliant on energy weapons. It lacks sufficient pod space to make moderate use of non-energy weapons.

Stormcrow has a slightly too large engine, but otherwise no glaring weaknesses.

Summoner has the armor of a 55 ton medium and a hilariously oversized engine.

Timber Wolf has an oversized engine.

Warhawk tends to rely too much on energy (but not completely).

Dire Wolf is extremely, horrendously slow.

All of them have arguably too much rear armor. In general, I would say that the Adder will be best light (but probably won't beat IS lights), Stormcrow will be best medium, Timberwolf will be best heavy, and the Warhawk might be the best assault. Overall, I think the Stormcrow has the best blend of traits.

I think it will depend on what the targeting computer actually does. If it is helpful the Warhawk and the Adder will get a lot of play time.

Timberwolf Prime and Alt D. Summoner with UAC's for brawling at 85 kph.

If Sarna is right, it goes 54 kph without speadtweak, making it 60 with. That makes it as fast as an atlas with a 335 engine. How is that, by any means, extremely slow for a 100t mech with as much firepower as the daishi has?

The Daishi has an XL300 for its engine. Using the current MWO speed formula:
Stock speed: 300 (engine rating) / 100 (mech tonnage) = 3; 3 x 16.2 (arbitrary constant) = 48.6 kph
Speed tweak: 48.6 x 1.1 (10% gain) = 53.46 kph.

Also, it's important to remember that mech agility is directly tied to engine ratings in MWO. Bigger engines let you have faster twisting/arm swinging/etc than smaller ones. Being stuck at a 300 engine is going to make the Daishi have the agility of a brick. It can pack in a lot of cheese, yes, but it's still slow and not very responsive.

The thing about the Dire Wolf is that it is not a brawler. It is supposed to core you before the range is short enough for it's lack of agility to be an issue. We'll have to wait and see how clan weapons are balanced to find out if that will still be true in MWO.

The attempt at balance is sure going to be an interesting thing to see. I'll be honest in saying that I'd rather we just didn't have the clans in, because I can't imagine the tantrums that will result in the balance attempts. Hope I'm wrong.

That said, I'm looking most forward to the Stormcrow; the Timberwolf should also be pretty excellent.

I could fight point blank with a Standard 300 in an Atlas a while ago no problem. I don't see how a Direwolf would be any worse off unless it has gimped torsotwist like the Battlemaster 1G or most of the Stalkers. It will have locked arms if you use autocannons in them but this can be worked around by putting them in the torso.

One thing is for certain though: The Direwolf will be able to utilize the Omni-system to its full potential firepower wise. It's going to be the king of direct damage in MWO bar none. Hopefully it will be slow and clumbersome so you have to integrate it into your company like a mobile artillary peice or a battleship in a naval situation.

Loadouts like this are entirely possible:

2xGauss Rifles or UAC20s (8 tons of ammo)
1xERPPC
8xER Medium Lasers
AMS and 18 Double Heatsinks.

-OR-

4xLB10X / UAC10s (7tons of ammo)
4xER Medium Laser
á la Annihilator

The Warhawk won't be bad either since it's pretty flexible loadout wise and matches a stock battlemaster in speed. As for which will be the best? Hard to say, As long as the Clan Lights can max out their armor they are hardly DOA. Same for the Summoner.
