PGI prices aside, F2P games have to make money somewhere.
Yes, I know they're a business and all, but their prices on pretty much everything except Mech Bays, a few colors & camou's, and the price of Premium Time; are all severely on the high end (even for an F2P game). They
are making money, and not on the low end.
The only way I can imagine PGI
not making much profit is from lack of buyers, spending too much, or their sponsor/investor(s) taking too much. It really wouldn't hurt them to lower their prices to more reasonable and buyer-friendly levels. This would
definitely incentivize more individuals to purchase, as multiple small purchases
feel less expensive than a single large purchase. Or, rather in MWO's case, multiple
large purchases.
There's also the fact that these purchases are all digital. There is no permanence to them. The second the servers go down, poof. (It could be said that nothing is permanent, but that's just stretching the envelope beyond what we both know I mean.)

Better it be cosmetic stuff than things that actually affect the game (not that PGI is averse to doing both, of course)
PGI already does that with mechs and mech bays; and to an extent with Adv. UAVs and Priority Air/Artillery Strikes.
