I want to get the 240.00 clan deal. MWO is literally the only game I play and I got my reasons for wanting to blow that kind of money.

But I just wanted to verify: I have until June 17th, to come up with the money, right?

I got RL financial priorities so I just wanted to be sure about this.

Also, who in their right mind is going to pay 500 bucks for a mech with a gold skin? I get the 240 deal is for the most hard core fans, but the 500.00 deal? Seriously? Am I the only one here who thinks that's crazy?

Instead of setting the cutoff to be the day of, I'd say set a personal cutoff of June 16th so you don't run into a situation where you miss the chance to buy the package once the pack patch hits. ;)

Also, if you are serious about getting a pack, I'd buy the simple 30 or 60$ packs so you don't miss out on the monthly deals. You'll get the extra May mechbay, plus whatever April is.

You can upgrade at any time.

I'd buy a day or two early.

Just because the QQ during the Phoenix cut off by those who didn't understand how timezones worked was hil-arious.

Has PGI actually clarified that you won't be able to buy clan packs past June 17th? I don't know offhand when phoenix ended relative to when it was released but founders was open for almost a year after the content was available.

I ask because I'm not willing to buy exclusive content, so I won't buy a clan pack until the mechs are available for cbills. If the packs end before that happens then I guess I can't buy one.

Phoenix was avalible for a while after the october release so it stands to reason that the Clan pack will be for sale post release aswell. People will probably want to buy after they are ingame.

Russ said that they plan on offering the Clan packages for a little while after the June injection date; How long they don't know yet.

The main advantage of buy now as opposed to waiting until June is that you get the monthly bonuses. So, just buy a little at a time and upgrade every couple weeks or so. You all get the monthly bonuses from the date your purchase and after. So if you buy now, you will get the April, May, and June bonuses.

Buy in with the 30 dollar pack now so you get all the unlockables and buy up as you feel you can afford.

imo dont buy anything until they explain how clan tech is going to be balanced 1:1 with IS tech.

because the only way I can see it being evenly balanced is if clan tech is WORSE but weighs less.

If you're set on buying a pack anyways, then I'd just get the basic one now and upgrade whenever you have the cash to do so :)

What i'm even more interested in is how they are going to set the Cbill prices for clan mechs. I don't exactly see why we should pay 3-4 times the price of a IS mech of the same weight if clans are balanced 1:1.

well that was pgis justification for the clan mechs costing 50% more than the pheonix mechs because the clans mechs cost more cbills, and the MC cost was supposedly based on the cbill cost.

but the whole reason clan mechs cost more is because theyre better, so that whole line of reasoning breaks down when clan mechs and IS mechs are rebalanced to be on equal footing.

but ultimately I dont see how a 5 ton clan LRM20 is going to be balanced against a 10 ton IS LRM20 unless the clan LRM20 is half as good, since it weighs half the tonnage. Theyre going to have to nerf clan tech to be worse than IS tech to make it equal. what I think is going to happen is clans will come out and theyll be massively overpowered and the game will basically be unplayable for anyone who didnt buy a clan pack...

The 500 bucks thing is just an intelligence test. To let us know when we have "special" people on the team and then "help" them.

Honestly you need to spend the money on star citizen.

That games pre-Alpha stage is going to have more features than the current state of MWO.

(you know a game that's already 2 years old)

You've never blown 500 dollars on something ********, that didn't give any sort of traditional "return"?

I have many, many times.

Booze, jewelry, nice restaurants....

It's $500 as in $240+ $260 gold with variants so it's a $260 gold mech :)

Yes but not on pixels with an arbitrary price tag with no promises.

If they follow the Phoenix package sale model, then the Clan packages will still be available after June 17th.

This makes sense from a business perspective. Players will see lots and lots of Clan mechs running amok on June 17th. This, in turn, will immediately cause that, 'I want!' buying frenzy. PGI will cash in on said frenzy. I could be wrong but based on PGI/IGP's money hungry tactics, I bet I'm right. ;)

I'm waiting a bit to see how the Clan vs. IS balance plays out myself. So far, it seems that they're sticking to canon loadouts (the Timber Wolf primary configuration looks properly represented in both the screen shots and the little article they wrote accompanying them). But with that being said, the lighter, more compact Clan weapons will be interesting to observe compared to the IS stuff.
