Like the title suggests, if you shoot a NARC on an enemy but they're in a friendly ECM bubble they still can't be locked on, and that's dumb so I think it should change.

I understand that if you NARC the ECM mech then the ECM is disabled for the duration, but considering how easy it is for people to just group up in a huge ball and easily be in ECM cover with the whole rest of their team it still makes it a pain in the ass to use NARC when it already has a number of drawbacks as is. It's lame to expect that you need to neutralize the ECM before the NARC can do much of anything when trying to do so likely results in you getting horribly killed, and that's assuming they don't have multiple ECM mechs, which makes it practically impossible to get any use out of NARC when that happens.

If necessary I would suggest that an ECM bubble would cancel out the benefits of NARC in exchange for being able to lock on the mech that was NARC'd, although that might present other problems.

I like the current implementation. It forces the enemy ECM mech to decide whether he wants to cover his ally and also for the NARCed mech to move back under bubble.

It also forces the NARC mech to be more prudent in the choice of target.

I agree with the OP. I still think the developers ought to overhaul ECM completely, but I would welcome the proposed NARC change as a quick interim fix.

NARC is an active weapon with weight, ammunition, and aiming requirements. It should not be 100% disabled by passive countermeasures.

This is one function that the ECM should counter. It blocks transmisions from within the bubble, which is what the NARC would be doing.

I do think that the ECM needs to be reworked but this suggestion is silly.

I'm aware that ECM functions that way in the tabletop game, and logically an ECM-like device ought to jam NARC. I still think gameplay suffers from this behavior, though. If ECM did not block missile locks then I would 100% agree with blocking NARC. But passive hard counters do little to promote teamwork or tactics.

That is why you use TAG. NARCs, without dropping from damage, would be overpowered itself if there was nothing you could do, at all, to counter them.

A warning on your screen (after several seconds or so) that you are NARC'd would be good enough, hell your own teammates can already see that you're NARC'd so it makes no sense that you can't see it yourself. I would also maybe suggest reinstating a damage cap, although having it be quite a bit higher than it was, and I even made a thread suggesting NARC missiles should steer missiles to the component they landed on instead of the center torso every time.
