I did dual Gauss in my Ilya as well for a while, the added speed was nice but my 4x ended up back with the dual gauss since the gauss range made up for its lack of speed.

My Ilya I run 3 uac5 and a ppc with a ml for backup... bit meta but works well for me. I will admit I am tempted to cheese it up with a tripple ac10 on it though.

You should turn arm lock off and give twin AC10s, 2MLs 7 tons ammo, and a 340xl on your Ilya. The speed and maneuverability alone makes up for running 1 ballistic less.

My partner and crime and I run the 4x with 4 x AC/5s but I'm tempted to run the 2 x AC/2 and 2 x AC/5 builds I've been seeing around lately.

When we run Ilyas, he usually sports the 3 x AC/10 and I run the 3 x LBX-10 build. He takes off the armor; I shred internals. It works pretty well in such a tandem.

What works for me very well is 3xAC5 + Biggest STD-Engine + 10 tons of ammo. It sounds a bit crazy, but it collects kill after kill after kill.

On the topic of the 4X, I will say I did also try the 4x ac5 route with it. I personally was only moderately successful with this build. It was nice to have the long range/ faster recycle ac20'like hitting power. Just did not thrill me but many people love it.

I did the 2x ac10 with my 3D with a slightly smaller XL and 4 mls. Really fun build.

Ever tried it as a zombie std brawler?

its quite nice, and capable of serious hurts in close range;

This is tons of fun, and pretty damn battletech if you ask me

the Dual Ultras allow you to poke and put some nice fire down range, whereas the dual meds and the SRM4 mean you can deal with other brawlers in close when your ultras lock up.
the machine guns are critseekers at end game.

This is the same reason why my 4X is collecting dust. Incredible mech with little equals but no thrill to piloting it.

I wish that my Ilya had JJs and would bring in a smaller engine just to have them. What I hate about my 3D is that the ballistic is in the arm and torso which throws my game off to have two similar weapons in each location; slower aiming (gotta line both crosshairs up), hard to shoot two different targets at the same time, etc. So I run a single AC10, 2 LPLs with my 3D

2 LB 10x - 2 machine guns - 2 medium pulse lasers - 1 srm 4 - 11 doubles
Standard 250 - 63.6 kph - 384 armour :) - you could also do - 61.1 for 12 doubles and better heat

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...69fb33de3537459

you could drop the pulse and heatsink to do - AC 10 - with 75 ac 10 shots http://mwo.smurfy-ne...3936be64381dd1b
- can drop the engine by rating of 5 for more armour

I'm running an XL255 with twin gauss, 2 machine guns and 2 ML. So far this thing is like playing with an Awesome. Friggen huge upper torso not to mention the arms.

This is what I run as well. Takes some getting use to for sure but when you do it is deadly.

I sold mine. Could't get used to the guns being mounted so low and being forced to expose my entire torso in order to fire on anything, lack of AC20...So many things which I didnt enjoy.

4xAc5 Cat 4X is probably the easiest mech I've ever used. You don't even have to move around very much. Just point and click. Hold fire on enemy torso until it is cored out. It's so simple it's a little dull.

Exposing your own CT isn't a big deal as they won't be able to return fire through the pounding of your shells. I'd say mine is 2.5+ KDR and 500+ damage/game - about twice as good as my next best mech. (I'm only a rather average player at best)

In one game, I recall coring out two relatively pristine brawler Atlases, a damaged Hunchie and a Jenner which approached head on, solo. No skill. Just hold on enemy centre of mass and hold drown mouse buttons.

I have 2 LB10X's on mine and I haven't regretted it. I have the max XL engine in it but I haven't had too many side torsi destroyed. And the times I did I probably would have lost the CT soon after
