in the end it comes down to my stupidity believing pgi could do something right for once.
then I knew about the "stuck in terrain" bug and all the other bugs that went by their q&a for the 16 months I played this game now.
my own problem buying the clan pack hoping it'll be implemented right I guess.
enough ranting for least a month from me.
p.s. Still can't believe they will mix the sides.
You're not the only one. Many of us hate how they're taking a dump on the setting. I haven't picked up a Clan pack because I've seen ZERO information about a real Clan invasion and greater story line is going to be involved with game play. We have none now, we've had none for two years, and it was in the write up about the direction of the game.
Mixing mechs is the laziest solution, and splits queues the least, but there's got to be a better way.

that's a pretty poor analysis. epically when more people disagree with having sole tech on each sides. Not only that but they cant force players into choosing a certain mech. Not all IS players want to only use IS mechs, and besides; With salvage the IS could easily acquire the rights to clan tech. Who's to say some novice clanners dont lose 12 mechs to the enemy in day 1 and boom, IS has clan tech. So its gonna be mixed tech anyways. Its just a matter of giving the IS that privilege from the get go. I do say they should work for it.
If they do stick to how the original Invasion happened. IS would only have access to their tech until they beat clanners. then its back to the first paragraph.

Just a lot of players talked about it for no reason.
Before there was Closed Beta, there was this would take place in the 3050 Invasion of the Inner Sphere. On a day:day pitch. So you are mistaken.

I think (i may be fooling myself) that PGI will (or should) allow either a limited choice in engines or a fixed *variant engine* in order to bring something else.
I was thinking something along 3 engines per variant in order to let ppl choose speed - balance - or slow (weapons + armor) builds.
Or just each variant focused in one of those principles but never allow a full choice of engine like anyone from 200 to 350 like we do now.
or people may have to rethink deployment and roles on some Mechs. Especially with the 3333 coming, there is no hard fast saying Lights have to be blazers. And yes people will rant that if a Light doesn't do 130-140 kph minimum, they die, but I know people Like CarrionCrows who doesn't even break 100 kph in his FS9 and is wicked in battle. Because he doesn't try to treat it like a streaking Jenner or Spider.
Clan Mechs are set mostly for BATTLE. Think how people use the Raven to snipe, does it NEED to go 140 to do this? Really it just needs mostly to outrun the Heavies and Assaults. If it gets the Attention of a Jenner or the like it's pretty well dead anyhow.

Then why choose Inner Sphere? I chose Lyran cause I wanted to play the game as a Lyran. If I wanted to be a Clanner Id be a Lone Wolf. Faction matters to some of us.

Russ said in a few NGNG podcasts that faction play will be different in terms of rules, it will also try to simulate a more canon faithful enviroment.
What does that mean? Russ says a lot of stuff to make people buy things, then when actual implementation rolls around, it's oh that was just our position at the time. And yet some people keep falling for it, so why should he change.

that's the million kroner question, my friend. Will CW and Factions actually remotely deliver on any of the promises they sold the Founders? Every patch, it gets muddier and muddier (which is an improvement from most of the Open Beta era where every patch just felt like guaranteed worse and worse news...now it sounds like they might ave some faction features, sort of...maybe, if the plan at the time doesn't change.........).

I get the idea Bishop in fact my Ravens 4x and 2x are built with the Battle mindset (they run at 100 Kph more or less) and it's a real joy use them knowing a mistake in position can cost me clearly a quick death.
To be honest my little wish to be able upgrade engines comes with the hope i can get someday a Vulture running like my Dragons today but hey dream is free

my dream would be proper implementation of Clan Tech and MM. Yeah, I agree, it is OP as written and needs some things done to bring it in line, but in general, it should be separate from IS and non-compatible, and Clanners should drop in Clanner only units. And yeah, they should drop in 10 v 12.
But none of those things are going to happen...but I can still dream.....
(Of course, my real dream would be a 3025 era server to slug away with the most fun mech builds and balance Btech ever had....SHS here I come!)

the 3025 server should be glorious.. i remember how much fun i had the last time PGI did a server reset plus repair and everyone had to fight for a couple of weeks with sligthy upgraded stock loadouts.

I would think your a Steiner because of you affection for the faction. You can still be a Steiner and role in a timber wolf. The mech changes but not the pilot. No one is messing with the factions. Its just the mechs available to people.

Hello kesmai,
Separating the two would segregate the population in a way that would be harmful to the game. MechWarrior Online is not a repeat of old MechWarrior games, but a revival of the franchise. In the past, single player campaigns combined with limited to in-existent multiplayer(depending on which game) allowed a separation of Clan Mechs from IS Mechs, however it was often a problem that Clan tech was completely overpowered, rendering IS Mechs comparatively useless. In order to address these, Clan tech is being balanced differently.
While I can appreciate that it's different from the past takes on the franchise, it's important to remember that MechWarrior Online, is, again, a revival of the series. The old guard from the old games are being joined by a slew of new players who haven't even heard of MechWarrior before and repeating design choices of the past isn't the ideal solution to an entirely new take on the MechWarrior games.
That said, this is a preorder so there's no problem with refunding your purchase. Please confirm if you'd like me to proceed.

We needed the old guard to get this off the ground, but now we have to make the game they wanted into something they didn't want.

"so long and thanks for the fish"
but it really nails it.
i really feel sory for all those old guard founders. no wonder so many good men and women have left this game already.
somehow this just makes feel sad. moreso for those "battletechfans" at pgi. i guess most of them will have the pink slip in 2016.
