The new 3/3/3/3 MM system will debut in two weeks, and there has been much complaining on the forums about the potential for long wait times in MM for popular classes (namely Assaults). I have a proposal that will help alleviate this problem (if you are willing to be flexible) and reduce waiting times for all classes.

UI1.0 had a highly praised feature that is absent from UI2.0, the 4-mech "Mech Ready List" of mechs that could be quickly selected from the Home screen for dropping into a match. Let's bring back the Mech Ready List, but rename it "Dropship List" and restrict each of the four slots to a single weight class. So you can have up to one Light, one Medium, one Heavy, and one Assault in your Dropship.

When you drop into a match, the MM will have the ability to pull any one of the (up to) four mechs in your Dropship as needed to fill the match. So, someone who is willing to randomly play any one of four pre-selected mechs in his Dropship will have a very short wait time before dropping into a match. The downside is that he won't know which of the (up to) four mechs he is playing until after he drops.

If you are only wanting to play two or three classes (Heavy and Assault, for example), then you can put just your Cataphract and Atlas in your Dropship, leave the Light and Medium slots empty, and the MM will pick whichever mech will more quickly fill a match.

If you are dead set on only playing in your Atlas, then you would just put the Atlas in your Dropship and leave the other slots empty, which will result in a longer wait time for you. But, you will be able to play exactly the mech you want.

I see this system being mostly beneficial to PUG players. In a 4-man group, each player would probably put only his most preferred mech into his own Dropship, so the 4-man would be able to still field 3 Assaults and 1 Heavy, or whatever else they wanted to drop in (same as current).

Since MM could potentially have 4x as many mechs to choose from when creating a match, most matches should be filled very quickly.

Complaints about things that aren't happening should be ignored. The long wait times i encounter in reality are for new things to be implemented. Making changes to them before they come out, because of some non-exsistant problem would only make this wait time worse, and for potentially no benifit.

Good possible solution for a problem that has no basis in reality tho.
