I'm still unlocking the efficiencies on my Locusts, but I just had 456 DMG on Tourmaline. That's my best so far (also with the 3M). I'm not DPSing quite as hard as I could with that one because one of my precious energy slots is occupied by a TAG.

What are you guys running on your 3Ms? I'm grinding XP at the moment, so I'm running a TAG, 2xML and 2xSL.

Eglar, that was very expressive, damn it. I never did over 1200 on something different from LRM boat, but to see it performed on Locust... Well done, sir! Can you share your build, please?

it's a pretty simple build.
That being said, these 2 matches were exceptions, there is no way one can get matches like that every match.
My locust k/d ratio is currently at 1.5 (1.3 archived) and w/l is only 1.17.

Regardless my playstyle and basically off-topic, here's a funny locust video:

Errodien streams with Locusts a fair amount, and he has some decent matches in them. If you're good in a FS9-S or Jenner F, you can score some decent matches in the 3M. You just have a much smaller margin of error. In a 35 tonner you can survive getting popped good once. Not so much in a 3M

Wow, you're braver than me - I would never run any mech without AMS at the moment (especially not a 20 ton one!)

I don't think I have my screenshots anymore, but I am pretty sure one of my best Locust scores from a while back was 700+ damage and 5 kills. It's been a while since last I drove one.

Since the introduction of arty and airstrikes, it's hard to be impressed by brag threads anymore.

never really had any big matches with my Locusts, max was a couple kills which i managed with all 3 chassis, top damage was probably around 400ish. other than the 1V i can usually reach 150-250dmg regularly in them. i may get a decent amount of assists or find a mech or two to harrass a good chunk of the match (favorite one was legging a fresh meta ac/ppc victor-or orion one of the two- after dueling it alone for several minutes on alpine to see him finally die shortly after he killed me- damn you 91m mark!-- after which he called the locust that kept a heavy sniper out of the fight for most of the match and left him easy to finish off, a "noob") but never had the "Big" match in them.

i do tend to be one of the last three or four to die a lot of times. does that count?

Hit 1 mech with an airstrike. Other than that, just playing the little ankle-biter with this build:

LCT-3M 4x SPLas, 2x AMS, XL190

I love seeing people perform well with a Locust. Just because a mech isn't "optimal" or isn't "meta" does not mean it can not have it's moments of glory. This is just one of those mechs that needs a precautious player that picks their spots. Too often people seem unable to adapt to a mech and try to keep the same play-style when it just doesn't work for it. My hat is off to you gentlemen. Bravo!

The Locusts are amazing fire-support lights. I don't use mine for scouting (no ECM) and I'll tend to stick with the team for the most part or with (an)other light(s) with ECM or wolfpacking. The 169.3KPH allows it to pretty much keep up with any other light and is a great distraction with the acceleration/deceleration skills to bait an opponent.

Overall the 3M has great damage output with 5 Medium Lasers and Double Heatsinks. The 1V is a master at targeting armor-less spots on any mech with 4 MGs and shearing off components while your team mates are fighting them; including a Medium Laser for shearing armor off by yourself, especially of rear torsos while they are distracted.

The only one I'm not very fond of so far is the 3S. Missle Launchers take up a lot more room with the combination of weapon and ammo than either the 3M's Lasers or the 1V's Laser and MGs. The SSRM2's work fairly well in combination with a Laser against other lights, but are a bit on the low end for damaging heavier targets and any sort of ECM will make it difficult without anti-ECM support to even use. In addition the Locust's high speed doesn't lend itself very well to SSRM2 lock-on use and I feel is better for SRM hit and run tactics. Balancing out SRM2/4 and ammunition is a constant issue though, which I find I either am not putting out enough damage and have too much ammunition that I'm not using fast enough, or that I run out of ammunition too quickly and am left only with a Medium Laser. I have not put double heat sinks on the 3S yet though, and I'm hoping to find a comfortable median with 3 SRM2 and 3 tons of SRM ammunition in addition to the Medium Laser.

Anyways, this was a game I'd had the other day that I did really well in.
Locust 1V - 1 Medium Laser, 4 Machine Guns, 2 tons MG Ammo. (I realized I didn't have either Endo or Ferro on this Locust which is why I had 2 tons of MG ammo instead of 3.)
