I'm curently trying to progress through the masteries of the Shadowhawks. Currently I'm working on the 2K which I've had great success running it with Lrm 10 2xlrm5's with 4 tons of ammo, 3 mls, bap and ams. I've got a 2h in the Bay just chilling with enough xp to elite twice over. I'm curious as to whether there is any real difference between the 2d2 and the d2. And no I really don't want to save up for the 5m...
Thanks
2D2 Or Not 2D?

The 2D2 is probably the best light hunter of the SHDs since it has 4 missile hardpoints. It's also probably the most versatile since it has the most balanced hardpoint layout.
The 2D looks like it's now the most compliant with the current AC/PPC meta since it can take 2 PPCs and an AC on the same side.

Yeah, it pretty much comes down to what you want to do with it honestly.
The 2D2 is the most versatile of all the Shadowhawks.
Also, if you are interested, you can always just go 1xGauss 1xERPPC. Works on all Shadowhawk variants, and with Adv. Zoom, and Target Info Gathering, you'll drop mechs dead at 1K without much trouble.

Ok, when people say that the 2D2 is the most versatile Shadowhawk, is that just because multiple ballistic hardpoints aren't valued? I've always considered the 2D2 to be the missile-focused one, since the 5M is the one that actually has a even number of hardpoints.

I think it's because when you want to utilize all the hardpoints on it without sacrificing mobility or armor, you're always gonna use only one ballistic weapon. So the multiple points are mostly useless.
It also has weapon points on all sides, head, and arms.
