what we really need is a BV system!

....

i loved those 4 vs 6 matches playing megamek with BV system

ps. BV stand for battle value..a number given for each mech depending on how well it perform... (for noobs)

The problem of BV stays the same - only the margin of failure is smaller.

Its just a combination of different factors - for example you play a 4 vs 4 on MegaMek or TT...
you have an Awesome, Archer, Wolfhound and Vindicator - the enemy has Battlemaster, Grashopper, Enforcer, Fire Javelin - although the enemy has fewer BV - he will simple beat you....reason is simple:
Role Warfare:
yo have 2 Supporter, 1 Sniper and 1 heavy Scout
enemy has 3 Brawler, 1 Harasser.... you may have a chance to cause serious damage at range (4PPC shots and 45LRMs, but you risk serious heat - and even the Enforcer may be able to eat such a salvor...the Fire Javelin can avoid it)

So Role Warfare is even bigger as BV

Way to illustrate one of the things that's wrong with society these days.

1) Something I'm doing isn't fun for other people, but I'm enjoying myself.
2) Something I'm doing to others would piss me off if it were done to me.
3) I'll continue to do it though, because nobody is stopping me at the moment.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

Been there.... done that.... and nothing changed.

I agree with the prior poster. There needs to be some better balance cause one team having 6 assaults and the other only having 1 or 2, most times the side with 6 assaults when, especially when pugging. Right now it seems you either take an assault or pray to the pug gods that you get a halfway decent team that can coordinate and maneuver to cancel out the advantage of so many assaults.

My stats in the Jester I just bought yesterday. And I guarantee the majority of those losses the other team had at least 3-4 more assaults than the team I was on.

Not sure why you lost, then, considering Jagermechs and Catapults are incredibly powerful mechs and often run away with the matches I play in. DDCs are usually better in groups than solo.

I keep saying it, but I'll say it again...people are going to be unpleasantly surprised at how little the tonnage limits do to prevent stomps. They'll still happen all the time.

Really? That is great. However, I heard through the grape vine that PGI was considering not putting that in the game. Something about the community complaining that they wont be able to use the mechs that they pay for.

You probably heard they were not putting in tonnage limits. The original idea was that teams would be have a certain tonnage they had to meet. They decided that it would be kind of a mess so they changed it by creating the idea that each team could only have 3 of each weight class.

Pretty much this.

But I will feel much better about it rather than this constant feeling of having been cheated out of my money. At least then I can say,"Damn I suck at this game!" instead of blaming the grotesquely obvious advantage 8 assault mechs has over a team with 2. Also, assault mechs can absorb more damage than a jager or cataphact/pults. A jager or phract gets cored very easily by an assault.

The whole 3/3/3/3 thing is... pretty insane. Because a stock Banshee is totally the same thing as an tricked out Highlander Jump Sniper.
