I'm happy to report that those hoping to see a timeline of MWO's mismanagement will be very pleased by what the Devs have been working on. Still too "alpha" to show off, but definitely worth mentioning!

So, nobody here finds it sad that someone is actually taking time out of their lives, to make a timeline of a game developers "shenanigans", so they can post it on the forums to get some props from other bitchy posters?

Not really, I think it's actually pretty awesome that he compiled it.

I believe he did it primarily as a source of comedy for his unit.

I am finding additional humor in the fact that when presented with such facts, you are angry at HIM though, and not the guys who lied to you for years.

It should be a PGI sucks thread...because MWO does. The Think Tank Dwankies shouldn't be working on CW until they get the Cart in back of the Horse with the basic game; something they should have done from day one. The number one reason people are bored with this ditty bopping game is the fact they don't let pilots pick their own maps for the proper mech loadouts. Build it right and they will come, build it stupid and make people laugh in wonderment as to WTF is going on between their ears. I wouldn't hold my breath about anything with CW...considering what they have done so far. <_<

Imo not being able to choose the map you drop on encourages players to build more balanced mechs. If you can choose your map there'll be very few non-ballistic mechs on Terra Therma ever again.
Unfortunately AFAIK PGI are going to allow players to choose maps in the future :)

3rd person has been in since mechwarrior 2 and i was just playing mechwarrior 2. As for ghost heat, it was needed, the alpha madness was getting rediculous. The coolant Flush i dont know why someone would be mad about that, i dont even need to use it. I never had a need for it and it doesnt help my opponent if he comes in cotact with me :). As for the film grain, yea that was horrendous, too much, but they did scale it back and now i dont even notice it. cant read the last one in your sig but i thought i would give that a whirl.

He said he's still working on it.
It's pretty epic, I must say.

I believe he said he's planning on releasing it to the public, but wanted to polish it up more.

Since I've seen some screenshots... I had thought it was released. It was insinuated earlier, but that's ok... it's a beta. :)

Hopefully something like this, which actually comes from some campaign rules in the board game. Those rules were overly complex with logistics and deviding your forces between reserves, main body, and recon elements, but the flowchart of how to capture a planet I liked.

I'm concerned about what maps we'll be playing on, PGI are going to need to roll out quite a few (ideally more generic) maps to account for different planetary biomes otherwise it's going to be pretty jarring, for example, fighting for Tukayyid on Forest Colony and the fighting for Somerset on Forest Colony.

I say ideally more generic as it would ease the workload and make for easier suspension of disbelief - our current maps all have a memorable feature about them, whether it's the stargate on Tourmaline (or anything on Tourmaline!) or the caldera on Caustic etc., as an example Tukayyids map would be (according to Sarna) rolling grassy plains, whereas Somerset would be more a wooded area. If they were relatively nondescript with no overbearing features they could more believably be used for other planets.

Honestly I hate to be that guy and for this to be my first post. I've skimmed around a lot have not played much . But from a new players perspective I see this game as having a massive black hole in content very little to do apart from rinse and repeat grinding (which is fine a normal mmo) However when you add in the fact the games balance seem's fundamentally broken on almost every front the lack of content , It becomes a major issue. I get the impression if CW isn't a major success this game is in serious trouble. My thoughts.

The original poster asked for serious replies and got a Black vs White knight showdown.

I am very proud of this mature and thoughtful community for adding constructive criticism. As you know the devs are actually reading the forums so I'm glad to see posts like this

Spoiler

I love how a community made of mostly people with jobs and responsibilities over the age of 30 are not bickering like children and add meaningful content to the forums.

/sarcasm

The saddest part about this entire debacle by the way is that best dev communication without any malice of hatred had to come from the off topic forum. Expectations were low for this community and some of y'all didn't even meet that.

Anyways, I agree with Hans Lohman.

I am expecting a system with a innersphere map, individual planets, and colour coded zones. I am also expecting a dynamic system that prevents people from easily crippling another faction by doing some crazy thrust maneuver into territories.

Problem is that you have to either leave it to the mob or give it to an authority figure to lead the ramshackle armies that will form. Seriously, who or what is going to decide on strategic targeting and basically command the pug/faction armies?

Unless something has changed with PGI's vision since OB (and I've not seen anything to indicate that it has), I'm not expecting Factions to have any meaningful role in CW. Faction borders will shift in line with lore and faction players participation will be limited to fighting over pre-designated planets on the borders in line with said shifts.

In other words, this is not going to be a MPBT:3025 reboot.

The mercenary corps will be the meat of the game but exactly how PGI is going to do this remains to be seen.

However, until CW is rolled out it is difficult to be certain what PGI's final vision of CW will be. Until such time as sufficient elements of CW have been rolled out for a reasonable evaluation to be made, I will remain a casual player as MOBA get really boring after a couple of months.

Just my 2 cents

Stick-swinging from guys with no development or business experience bragging how much better they can do aside, it looks like it will be planets represented by one or more maps, contested and claimed from match results. Where things can really get interesting is applying incentives and rewards to create "hotspots" that players are eager to get into, especially on short notice. The more players see that their efforts impact territory, the better.

I was wondering about this also. Is every CW battle simply going to be: Planet Ex (tourmaline), Planet WhY (caustic), Planet Zed (tourmaline again)...?
So basically exactly what we are doing now but with a planet name added to the map name? And a progress tracker somewhere showing how many instances of tourmaline, caustic and terra therma we have completed, represented as shifting colors on a map? Or something? Is that REALLY the plan?

We will have to wait until we see what PGI comes up with. They have already changed their stance on several aspects.

1. 'All matches will effect CW' has become a 'Faction Que'.
2. 'Fighting over planets' has become 'fighting over fronts' (for Faction players at least).
3. No idea how Loyalist Units will work.

I am sure there will be a map.
