When my friends are online it is almost impossible to contact them in game. It's very frustrating to log on and see that my friend is online and have to pick up the telephone and call him because I can't get his attention through the existing UI. Suggestions:

Popup toast notification when someone in your friends list logs on both in the UI and in game.
Audible alert when a friend logs on.
Popup toast notification when a friend sends you a message in game.
Popup toast notification when you get a group invite

Also, ability to disable popup notifications in user preferences with them enabled by default.
