Driving a fat ass like the Atlas I really depend on the 90m safe zone on PPCs. It allows firing in crowded areas where friendlies constantly cross in front of you or are very near you.

See, I take a different view.

If someone wants to run through the glowing blue and green beams coming out of the front of a mech that's what I classify as "their problem".

I like to classify it as "Life Lessons".

There are few teachers as skilled as the AC 20, in the instruction of "how to avoid friendly firing lanes".

Pretty much how I see it. If you rush in front of my guns while I'm blazing away, you're gonna soak whatever firepower I'm throwing. Your mistake.

I most often see this with people angling to get the kill shot on whoever I'm hammering.

Intentional teamfire is surat behaviour.
Stray fire does happen though and shouldn't always be taken personally.
Pilots should always be keen to also be aware of their surroundings and avoid falling into the line of fire of either their friend or enemy.

That said, this is a pretty neat (and most likely unintentional) benefit to the minimum range on PPCs!

Personal experience it's more in the range..
Oh look an Quad Ac/2 or triple Ac/5 - UAC/5 CTF non stop firing let's walk into the line of fire to get a free massage on my mech back..

I would argue that "kill stealing" and Glory Hounding is far far worse.
Don't want to get shot by your allies? Don't face hump the enemy, and for the love of god don't block everyone else's shots.

I want to be able to disable the field inhibitors. If they have 90 meter minimums, that minimum is created by a cancellable field inhibitor.

Yes, do not INTENTIONALLY stand in front of another mech (taking their fire) to try and steal a kill...

Just because they have a minimum range doesn't mean I appreciate being 'target practice' at the start of the match. :)
