is it possible to buy equipment without using the mechbay?
Like I want to buy a specific engine just to have it while I wait to get more c-bills.

i think i doesnt work, sadly ;(
But today ist freemechevent, so if you get the Thunderbolt by winning 5 games you have at least a working tool for byuing single equipment

I'm afraid not. The only way I know to purchase weapons & equipment is to put it on a mech and click the "checkout" button.

I don't really see why you'd want the engine before the mech, but yeah, the thunderbolt is an easy way to get it. Just 5 wins.

Buying an item with no mech would serve no purpose, so no, there is no option of buying items separately.

You would literally not be able to do anything with it. not a feature that anyone needs, and not really something a UI engineer needs to bother building.

My personal suggestion (but doesn't mean your way is wrong)
1.Buy the mech of choice.
2. build as close as possible to your desired plans.
3. play the hell out of it to gain xp for unlocks while you build as desired.

That's not how it works. The question is not what we need, the question is what we want. And some people like buying stuff without buying a mech, including myself. Now I could explain psychology stuff, but let's spare everyone and just accept that there may be no need, but certainly a want. There's no reason not to allow it.
Anyway, Bigbacon please use the Short Question, Short Answer thread in the future, helps keeping the topic list clean
(It's a pinned topic on the first page, easy to find.)

To possibly add to this conversation (as both sides have points)
There are several times I wish I could be looking at the engines available to buy for a mech while the mech is still in a match - most of the time this is not an issue (because I have quite a few mechs - and very few go very far above 300 ratings) but every now and then I find myself wishing I could go into the shop and look at (and once or twice buy) another engine or other similar part.
