not sure what to say, have to give up catapult. infrequently able to target other mechs but lose target quickly, and target lock takes several seconds even on close mechs, please fix catapult.

Provide a screenshot. Also, what was your ping at the time? Very high/fluctuating ping can also cause targetting errors.

everything you just said sounds like it's working as intended. you have to keep the reticle in the square and if it's indirect targeting, the lock disappears once your friendly unlocks the target. up close, it's hard to lock because the target is moving with respect to your reticle.

if there's ECM, locking time increases by 50%
