Fatlas <3

At least 3/3/3/3 will stop this kind of nonsense from happening. Yeah a lot of assaults can be overpowered, but in this situation it was underpowered and having lighter mechs would have helped them out significantly. :(

What you call "nonsense" I call fun. But then again some people just have neither the stomach nor the requisite skill to go against the odds.

Elo works, apparently.

Translation: Skill trumps tonnage. :(

I keep saying tonnage balancing is not the way to go, and this illustrates it well.

1/10 games players defend base...and you did... It was fun anyway :( !

Almost every single assault game I have played since they introduced turrets the enemy team has been defending the base...

Can't believe it only took them 3min to get across the map and up a mountain.

Sometimes I swear the matchmaker is bugged.

You take a premade of 4 lights?
Your team gets a SECOND lance of 4 lights.
The other team gets 8 mediums?

Like, it knows it wants to match 4 lights against 4 lights, but it puts the lights on the same team by mistake.

Or in this case, it wanted to match a lance of 3 DDCs against another lance of 3 DDCs, but put them on the same team.

I swear this is how it actually works . . .

probably took them longer than that. Estimated 3 minutes starting from when we gathered around our base, which took some time too

As the OP stated, he spotted them moving through open terrain and the LRMs took out accordingly. As they should. But If the enemy team had not of done that and instead stick to cover, the outcome could have (and very possibly would have) ended very differently.

What cover? Its flaming Alpine Peaks, a map that should have been removed from the rotation the moment they buffed missile speeds. This is a map where LRM boats have it all their own way.

There is simply insufficient cover in the map to approach either base without being barraged. NONE. Mountain ranges don't protect you against LRMs, not especially when there are spotters, and the boats can simply reposition themselves in most cases.

The only counter to LRM boats in this infernal map are PPC snipers which is yet another problem of its own. Brawler builds are completely boned in this map. If you're unlucky enough to drop with a team that is mostly setup for close range skirmishes like that Atlai team, you're pretty much boned. Heck, all that ECM didn't save them...not when Tag had its range buffed a while back. That was fine back than when LRMs were useless but maybe they should look into cutting back its range again.

Its been said before - LRM boats are OVERPOWERED in the current meta. Even if you agree that the LRMs need a buff, there's no sane way you can look at the assaults with 4 LRM10/15 racks and think there's nothing wrong with them.

I thought PGI is trying to discourage boating? Why are LRM boats excluded? No, ghost heat doesn't affect LRMs. Chain fire doesn't affect LRMs as badly as other weapons.

I get that, I have played this map enough times like you to know if you don't have any kind of range weapons you are in the very definition of screwed.
But if they are starting at the top of the map and their team is mostly made up of brawlers then their only choice is to go the Southern rout. Yes it takes a long time but at least you can hide in and among the hills and approach with some level of cover. But I assume they went the "direct" rout which is wide open space and the worst way to go.
Not to be stroking E-peeings here but I have lead a brawler team on Alpine to a victory through the Southern rout, which as I said is the only way to go, against a team with LRMs or any kind of weapon with range, other wise, well, you get a massacre. But then again, the biggest mech on our team was a Victor and he was fast enough to keep up with the Heavies as we were under weight, so we at least had speed.
