Quit putting XLs in your Tbolts. And start using their hardpoints fully.

You'll have much better runs in them.
Seriously, I pilot a Tbolt regularly and I open 3Ds like they are beer cans.

See an enemy Tbolt loaded with 2AC5s and 2 PPCs... Fire my full alpha into its ST, watch it keel over. Point Laugh Move On.

While mine goes on to bag 2 to 3 mechs on an average match.
Tbolt is a bar room brawler and it's fairly easy to spread the damage around in it, I can't wait for SRMs to get their adjustment. Going to be having even more fun in one.

I threw it in the tupperware container when a mech sporting 6 mLas could not brawl... Been pretty much been running my Phract -3D exclusively for a long time...

Essentially to flip the bird at the meta I pulled my -5K out of the mothballs last week... Ditched the mLas in exchange for lLas and have been doing surprisingly well with it while pugging. When playing it in premade it does even better...

I have no delusions that I'm going to dominate with this mech but it's a diametric play-style reversal from my -3D and has honestly been an enjoyable change of pace...

Possibly, but I started seeing more and more before this thread popped up. Quite surprised I saw that many though. Mostly 4Hs, few 5Ks, no 4Gs.

4Gs only get "speedy arms" (super fast arm articulation), but that and more JJs don't make up for the missing hardpoint vs the 4H.

Agreed. IMO the 4H is the better pick of the three. I run mine as a bit of an oddball build, 2 MLs, 3 SSRM2, TAG, BAP, ERPPC at 98kph. It's quite fun.

I compare them to like a bigger Hunchy SP with JJs. Problem, they are so fricking over sized its ridiculous.

A mech that has great potential, but its just too dang big. Its really too bad, I love fast mechs with JJs, that can pack a punch.

Sounds like a slow Raven with an additional PPC.

And one that's been skipping on its weight watchers meetings, for that matter.

This is why we need unique perks for mechs. There should be reasons to play these mechs... instead of them just being worse versions of other mechs.

I saw four Quickdraws last night! I knew this was an opportunity I could not miss; I chased them all down and melted them with laser fire.

Rarity Schedule:
Very Common – If I don’t see one or more of each in every match, I check outside to see if hell froze over.
Locust
Spider
Jenner
Jagermech
Thunderbolt
Cataphract
Victor
Highlander
Banshee

Common – Not every mech from this list makes it into every match, but pick two and you can count on see one if not both.
Firestarter
Raven
Shadow Hawk
Catapult
Orion
Battlemaster
Stalker
Atlas

Uncommon – You don’t see these every game, but they are common enough you remember the popular loadouts.
Cicada
Blackjack
Hunchback
Griffin
Wolverine

Rare – Nostalgia, reminds you of an older simpler time, when the game was fun.
Commando
Centurion
Kintaro
Dragon
Awesome

Very Rare – You probably had to check your pokedex the last time you saw one of these, and if you have on in your inventory, you likely have a hoarding problem.
Trebuchet
Quickdraw

Extinct – Like bigfoot, the only evidence of their existence are grainy photographs

Fixed a few.

Personally, I'd move a few to common, but whatever.

I don't think the Kintaro fits that description, despite it deserving of the correct placement in the list.

Well, it'll be a while before I add a Quickdraw into it.

That's funny, those rarest mechs are the ones I've been running recently. That rarity is why I'm running them, though. Just doing my small part to make the game a little less stale for others!

Well, except the AWS-8Q. I'm running that because I actually really enjoy the stupid thing. Stock weapons, too.

All this talk of trebuchet's, awesomes and quickdraws, but what about the lowly Deaths Knell?

I killed one on Tourmaline in my Locust the other day. No-one expects the Locust.

Kinda sucks that this is the only mech that i can pilot properly aside from trenchbuckets :(

I like the underdog aspect of it,nobody expects anything from them.

I usually just put 3 large pulse lasers and xl300 in them and troll away,it does not even run that hot,6 medium pulse lasers run way hotter. Its like a having a point and shoot 3 x ac10 without the ammo problems.
Seriously though the 6 medium lasers and SRM6 with XL360 is my favourite build for it.

Poor Quickdraws - size of an assault mech, but only 60 tons. I have a friend working his way through them, so I see 1 when he plays, but that's about it.

I'd say them and Trenchbuckets are the rarest of mechs for me. Kintaros are pretty close to that, too.

In defense of the Awesome, while it has poor hitboxes and a lack of jump jets or ballistics, they can be dangerous since they can still mount appropriate firepower for 80 ton mechs. They make decent LRM boats, and can act as good long range fire support, too. So, while weak, they can at least apply pain before dying, unlike the lighter mechs that are badly oversized or otherwise messed up.

As for Thuds, they had pretty much vanished before the free mech give away. They are interesting since they don't seem to have the dakka folks want at that tonnage, but they are sturdy, and some of them have nice, high energy points for sniping. They'll never be the king of alpha strikes or boating, but they have an annoying habit of hanging around and refusing to die. They seem to be the perfect "heavy cruiser" escort mech that hangs near the assaults and takes a lot of punishment to die.

Orions aren't that uncommon in my ELO bracket, though they are one of the less common heavies. As for Locusts, yes, I see a bit more of them than Quickdraws or Trenchbuckets, which is sad.
