Description: switching between Hunchback 4P and Hunchback 4SP resets the weapon groups.
Location: Match / Testing Grounds / Mechlab
Reproduction Rate: 100%
Steps to Reproduce:
- own a HBK-4SP and HBK-4P ( HBK-4P(C) has the same issue )
- choose one of them and configure the weapon groups - no matter if in Match/Testinggrounds or Mechlab
- switch to the other one and configure the weapon groups
- switch back to the first one and the weapon groups are reseted
(in Mechlab it resets all weapons to group 1 - in Match or Testing-Ground it resets to some kind of default setup)
- if you switch to a complete different mech (in my case a JM6-A and a HBK-4H) - it doesnt reset the weapon groups - only between 4P & 4SP

I wonder if it's something weird like the weapongroups.xml being set read-only, so changes made aren't saved correctly and it "forgets" your new weapon grouping?

It's a problem with the weapongroups.xml. Sometimes, the server designates 2 'Mech in you garage the same ID, which is used in the weapongroups.xml to link the groups to their respective 'Mechs. Whenever you change the group on one, it will overwrite the setup of the other (as the game believes them to be the same). This could be countered in 2 ways:
1) Make weapon grouping server based, but that will increase the amount of data the sever needs to handle. It would allow spectators to see the exact grouping the spectated 'Mech uses, though.
2) If the server has no problem with 'Mechs being designated the same ID, at least make sure that the 'Mechs in a player's stable won't ever receive the same ID.

I deleted my weapongroups.xml and reconfigured all weapongroups.
after that - this is my weapongroups.xml
The mechs in this XML are in following order : HBK-4H , HBK-4P , HBK-4SP , JM6-A
now if I switch in Mechlab to HBK-4P its weapongroups are reseted - all to group 1
If I reconfigure that HBK-4P now then the weapongroups.xml looks as following:
as you can see - thats totally wrong. The mechs with
ID 6836990934777860 (thats the 4P) and
ID 6836990934777858 (thats the 4SP)
now have the same weapongroups and the same invID´s and ItemID´s which should be impossible - because I can´t equip 2 ERPPC ( itemId 1006 ) into the right torso (compID 1) of a HBK-4SP

This guy seems to have a pretty good explanation of it:
http://mwomercs.com/...haring-problem/
Also this problem seems pretty widespread. I'm experiencing it too
http://mwomercs.com/...eapon-grouping/
http://mwomercs.com/...oups-resetting/
http://mwomercs.com/...-up-hbk-4p-4sp/
http://mwomercs.com/...apon-groupings/
Maybe create an official thread and sticky it with these instructions?

Hey guys,
We're looking into this issue and if everyone having this issue could submit a ticket with their weapongroups.xml so we can narrow down a repro rate on our end that would be much appreciated.
EDIT: You can find this in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Profiles for users on a 64bit client of windows
Thanks,
BDA
