what i miss right now is that when i am at critical damage, the cockpit (aside from the red light) does not reflect this at all.
here are some things i'd like to see (note: i don't mean they need to happen every time, but from time to time so its not always the same damage you see)
if you take damage that makes your screen shake (ppc/lrm/srm/AC...) when your central torso is exposed, any of the following could happen:
- small non view blocking cracks in your central window
- larger and more complex cracks in side windows (which all mechs except maybe the AWS and SDH have)
- damage to your instrument boards, these damages sometimes spark a bit
- one of the auto detect:no signal screens breaking and going static
(also, the other screens seem to have stopped working as they did, always saying i have no ammo loaded even if i'm carrying a ton of uac5 and srm ammo)
- small smoke to the sides of the cockpit
- should your head get hit by an MG, the side windows can get a bullet mark/hole (like when a bullet hit bulletproof glass, i take the cockpit is made out of that)
i think this would make the game a lot more immersive
Immersive Cockpit Damage

I was just thinking bout this yesterday. Would be cool to see sparks and puffs of smoke coming out of the consoles. Flickering readouts (even ones with a big red "OFFLINE" if you've sustained enough damage, hell it's not like they do anything useful anyway), dimming instrumentation/flickering HUD kinda how the ECM effects radar and targeting.
I'd imagine people would QQ bout cracked cockpit glass though, they sook about the current effects enough. It'd give them migraines.

I'd like to see more cockpit immersion, but this sort of thing you'll get those people that say 'This makes is harder to snipe' or 'It makes the game look worse'.
Ya know; people hated cockpit glass (silly people, that's who), so imagine their reaction over this. The horror!
They forget they're playing a giant 'Mech game and things like your cockpit being damaged/having actual glass is central in piloting a 'Mech. Many are afraid of having to change; hence I don't have high hopes for these types of suggestions, as cool as they are.
