F is a LaserBoat, D has the missiles. So if at all, you have to compare K with D, and as said with 2 SRM4 you get 36 alpha and more than 4 DPS. So what advance does K have over D (besides the module slot, which not everyone needs in a Jenner)?

I run my D with 2xSSRM2, BAP, one ton ammo, 4xMLas, 1xJJ, near max armor (max - 6), and one heat sink. 41% cooling.
I was going to guess you have 2xSRM4, one ton ammo, 4xMLas, 2xJJ, near max armor, and one heat sink. 36% cooling. (33% if you drop the DHS for more ammo), but I can't get that to a 4 DPS. You must be dropping engine, JJ, and/or armor to get some extra DHS's in your build. Closest I got was a 3.8 with one ton of ammo (for 12.5 shots with the SRM's).
The K I use has 1xSRM4, two tons ammo, 4xMLas, 2xJJ, near max armor, and two heat sinks. 46% cooling.

You run hotter, get to shoot less, and therefore have less DPS than the K I listed.
You can add more heatsinks, sure, but where can you get the extra tonnage, the engine? You run slower. Armor? You die quicker. Ammo? You use your SRM's less (which means you effective DPS is just for the lasers, anyhow).

Now, these are trade-offs an experienced Jenner pilot can make (heat vs speed or armor, hit and run vs circle of death, etc), based on their own style and play. But for a starting Jenner pilot, the K is best in my opinion. It also remains a solid mech for general use, due to the extra module, with the other JR7's being somewhat more specialized in how they play.

Yes, the K punches a bit lighter; but it can punch more often.

You are right, when I checked the DPS, I was at work and couldnt remember the exact armor layout... so 3.8 is my DPS, but its close to 4. Anyhow I have no headsinks and I never ran too hot. I tested it without headsinks and kept it this way, because I noticed I didnt need one. And I never used all of my SRM ammo. I have the SRM on chainfire because when I shot them together, most missiles miss anyhow, so I better only shot once and see if they hit. My KDR is 0.99 over 165 matches, so I guess it's not doing that bad (K on the other hand, which I used only for getting speed tweak for 23 matches has a poor KDR of 0.55 and the F leads with 1.05).
No, SRM is nothing for beginners at all (depends on ping too of course). As a beginner I would use 2SSRM or even 2LRM5 in that thing.
