Better idea!
Make it actually have local area light sources (like all street lamps work), add destruction, and then take away night vision and thermal! O_O

It seems pretty clear to me that the colony is there to run the mining operation, and the bay goes out to sea. The ship was obviously there to pick up ore to take to a processing center elsewhere on the planet. The thing isn't particularly deep drafted, so the relatively shallow water of the bay should be a non-issue. It was just the crew's misfortune to be in port when the fighting started.

I'm doing up a custom map "PGIsland", it's a bit sparse now but I'm still in the process of making the damn thing

Socio-economical: A-A-C-B-C

PGIsland is an out of the way portion of the planet Canadia, though more tropical than the inner regions it is quite sparse in terms of metropolitan entities compared to the continental areas. though sparsely populated compared to it's continent, it was rapidly colonized by activists looking to run from a dictatorial government. Lead by elected, but anonymous 'Ceasars' RoadBeer and Deathlike, the island that was once a safe haven for wanted government activists was quickly turned into a resort for the Wealthy and Famous, free from the shackles of it's sister mainland.

with colossal Highrises and arching Manufacturing plants balancing the pockets of serine coastal beaches and parks, PGIsland's regions provide multiple areas of defense and protection from Ballistic and Missile based weapons, while enabling the choice to either skirt around the more open coastal regions or weave through the more metro- areas.

Definitely need some new maps. The maps seemed to be getting more and more interesting, and then they just stopped coming.

I'm also starved for a reason to play that goes beyond hanging out with my friends on TS, because we can do that with any game (most of which allow more than 4 players on a team)

I would pay for new maps.

Release new map

1 month for folks willing to pay MC
1 money for folks willing to pay CB
Free for everyone after that.

Similar to how they do mechs, with a slightly longer rollout period.

If people think 1 month is too long, make it 1st/15th/end of month.

I want a pitch black map, where radar and night vision doesn't work due to atmospheric conditions, and all we get to use is a spot light. oh wait PGI needs to equip mechs with spot lights heh!

Man, seems like contentment is hard to come by these days. :/

I really enjoy this game, and I think that PGI is doing a great job thus far. Keep up the great work guys!

New maps would be nice but they take time to do. There is another fast and cheap way to put more variety into the game. Put back the original Assault game mode (with no turrets) alongside the existing one with turrets. Call it Assault (it was first after all) and rename the new version Base Assault, say.

Just need to add couple of little things like putting a sensor on the base to tell you of capping mechs and maybe making the base cap take longer for this mode and you have an extra game mode.

Another idea for a game mode is what I'm tentatively calling, Arena. Basically a last man standing game mode. Drop [up to] 6 other solo players and let them duke it out for 1st, 2nd, 3rd positions. The achievements system could be extended to include rewards & titles for this game mode (e.g. Gladiator = 1 win, King of the Ring = 10 wins, Arena Champion = 100 wins, Champion of Solaris VII = 1000 wins). Most maps already have 6 drop points, just drop 1 on each position. Should limit this to certain smaller maps tho' or the game will time out...
