In all honesty, my first thought when reading your post was "If you have to ask, then this House is not for you." However, after reading your signature... if you are a fan of anarchy, the real question is why would you even be looking at any other House? Each of the other Houses is known for their ridged command structure. House Marik on the other hand is known for the individuality of the people in the House.

I choose Marik way back in the day because all the fanbois choose Davion and Kurita. There are exceptions but I feel they are the popular houses. Additionally when I started the 3025 beta they had a bonus for Marik players since they had a low population. Something I think this game will eventually incorporate since having a majority in 2 houses would ruin the game. In the long run, no matter what we will all be having a great time.

Well, Mariks (while having small number of mechwarriors and mostly fighting with conventional tanks and fliers) have assembly lines of great mechs and even greater variants for even greater mechs.

Basically, if you sign with them you'll get amazing equipment for a buck and you won't have to put your neck on the line, since Steiner aren't really good at fighting as they are on getting rich. :D

I picked Marik based on a few things:
1: The bird symbol, typically an honorable symbol
2: The logo is the closest resemblance to House Atreides of Dune, which I am a huge fan of
3: I just read up their info on a wiki and feel the greatest connection with them

Marik = American (sorta), Steiner = German, Davion = English or fuedal European, Combine = Japanese, and Capellan = Chinese. Combine and Davion are more attractive to me as they seem to be more focused on military traditions. Capellans always end up with nutjobs as leaders and are just as likely to execute you as look at you. Steiner ....Katherine Steiner nuff said. Marik on the other hand is what happens when Corporations get waaaay too much power and seems to be more scheming and betrayels involved in its political system...yes I know they are all like that but Marik seems to take it to extremes and can't trust em even on basic contracts.

You should pleadge to House Marik because it is liberal and offers a lot of different choices.

It has the best Mech production facilities in the Inner Sphere, prefers LRMs and Heavy Lasers and it has a very nice fleet of WARSHIPS! (I know, it's just about Mechs here...)

I've been a fan of Battletech for nearly 20 years now and I practically know all the novels, source books, Field Manuals, House Handbooks, Rulebooks, Starterbooks, Technical Readouts, ... and I own many of them.

The FWL is the closest to a free and federal modern democracy you can get in the whole Inner Sphere. There are people of so many different origins, cultures and languages that make everyday life in the FWL so fascinating.

If you are looking for a House that offers you freedom, choice and good Mechs, join us!

Because they have a Purple Eagle as their symbol......a Purple Eagle! :D

"The government of the Free Worlds League is often misinterpreted as a representative democracy by superficial observation. In fact, the members of the parliament are representatives of the individual planets. The individual members of the parliament are determined by planetary governments, however. Consequently, the Free Worlds League's parliament may include elected representatives and representatives appointed by planetary dictators as well. This results in a mixture of regional and federal authorities. The individuals within the overlapping layers of bureaucracy continually vie for prominence.

At the federal level, a struggle for power between the legislative (Parliament) and executive (the Captain-General) existed almost as soon as the nation was formed. The relative dominance of either side waxed and waned over the centuries, though, in general, the Captain-General accrued more and more authority." (http://www.sarna.net...e_Worlds_League)

I have to give the FWL this much; their leaders title is by far the coolest -> CAPTAIN-GENERAL!

Makes me kinda think that Sacha Baron Cohen aka ADMIRAL-GENERAL Aladeen is a secret fan of the FWL :D

See I have yet to decide IF Im gonna do the mech company thing OR Im gonna sign up for a house OR I do the mech company thing and only contract to one house. And SOA has its own strict structure as oxymoronical as that is. Gotta watch the show lol

House Marik was always underestimated.

I'm really curious how the situation will develop when all the newcomers join. At the moment mostly Diehard-BT-fans are on these boards.

Imagine the game starts and the influx of players new to Battletech comes in - which is great, of course.

What will they choose? Probably Mercenaries (cool), Kurita because of the Dragon-Logo and Background (cool), or Davion (let's be honest, that house was designed to be the "best").

As long as the numbers of House Marik are larger than of House Liao I'm satisfied.

Marik seems closest to the Minmatar Republic, so Marik it is.
