Just a few very good RP reasons:

Best beer in the IS.
Our leaders are smexy blondes.
Biggest mechs.
Biggest guns. (UAC20, LBX20, Heavy Gauss Rifle are all Lyran inventions)
Really nice ski resorts.

In addition to the RP reasons, I don't believe we've tried to rip each other apart on the forums yet. Good crowd here.

^^^
I thought about posting something there, but it was hard to phrase "border skirmishes and free-form action (because the FWL lore is basically non-existent)" so I gave up mid-post. :)

OP, go Steiner if you want to use primarily heavy/assault mechs and be on the front-lines (you'll have no shortage of combat). Also LBX20's rule for close-range fighting.. Just re-played MW4:Mercs and I had forgotten how much fun they were late-game.

I am really interested to see what community warfare looks like and how our faction choice will effect it. I am especially interested to see what the difference between Merc Corps and the Great Houses turns out to be.

Here's the thing about Steiner. We have the best mechs, the most mechs, the most money, a government that does really well by its citizens, and we're also not all self-righteous. Plus our board is a chill place to hang out with other Steiners.

After all, there's nobody finer than House Steiner.

This is the shortest but one of the best description of the Lyran Commenwealh i ever read.

Thats it. You see a lot of action during the years
- Fighting Pirates
- Fighting Eagles
- Fighting Dragons
- Fighting worser Pirates aka Clans (Wolf, Falcons, Vipers)
- Fighting self - Skye and Mercs
- Fighting the worst Pirates aka RedCorsair JadeFalcon
- Fighting Smoke Jags
- Fighting Swords - VSD and his self-righteous - band of murders and pillagers
- Fighting worst Sword - aka World of Blake
- Fighting Mongol Bullshit Falcons

The only ones you may not in Battle with are House Liao, and some of the Rimward periphery states.
And when you join the Tamar Pact i'm pretty sure we found a reason to fight with the FRR - because that are our worlds

I'm hoping for extra C-Bill generation as one of the faction advantages. XD

And well, I like beer and assault mechs. And beer in assault mechs.

Why has no one talked about our scout lances of 4 assaults yet. Why send out more then 1 lance, if any issue comes up the scouting party can level any facility that they come across. I mean at it's core, isn't that what scouting is all about, blowing **** up?

I chose House Steiner because of the rich history that is already in the lore about them. Their story and way of doing things just rings true to me. Ive been playing Battletech since I was a kid in the 80s and still have dozens of little metel table top minis for the Classic game. Steiner forever!
