3M first - 320XL is reusable, which is the most important buy that you can make, outside of the fact that ECM is the most important feature you need
2A next - Run it like the Jenner-F, w/o the JJs
The third option is up for debate:
2B - arm lasers are the only defining feature, which makes it different enough
X5 - If you're willing to spend money (is it on sale? I'm not even sure), it is "good enough" to be a Jenner-D-ish option, but of course w/o the JJs. Just remember it does't have AMS, but if you're going fast and using cover, that shouldn't be a problem until the next lurmaggeddon.

They're one of the top mediums. a xl340 on a upgraded a or b variant loaded up with medium lasers is very OP. Slightly bigger frame than jenner but with more armor and better heat management. When 3/3/3/3 gets implemented I see lots of people running them with lights to win conquest.

3/3/3/3 will make them better IMO, because it will let you still bring a light pack except that 1 or 2 will be cicadas which could work quite well.

Despite many who feel otherwise, the CDA-3C is my preferred variant. It runs 151.5kph, is fully armored, and packs an ER-PPC and 4 MG (two tons ammo). General tactics are to scout and pick at the enemy from range, hopefully causing a break in ranks. It is a great information gatherer and once it gets the elite efficiencies unlocked it handles like a dream.

I just treat them like free kills, putting a single salvo of gauss in that CT and it is practically dead as if I miss the CT it will hit the ST and with that XL engine make him a much easier target. One more salvo and he is dead meat regardless of armour. The legs are even easier to cut off then say a spider or a jenner. I can account more kills of this 'Mech then firestaters.

This is good advice.
The 2A is a solid gun boat. Play it with a single long ranged energy (PPC or Er Lrg) and 3-4 Md Lasers.
The 2B is the same as the 2A only with one less energy. Lrg Laser in the nose and 4 Md Lasers in the arms.
3C is garbage so you should stay away from it (10 tons heavier than the Spider with 3x the mass and no JJs).
3M is pure gold w/ a 330xl ER Lrg, 3 Md Lasers and ECM.
X-5 is ok but you're better off with a different Hero mech unless you want to be a 5 ton heavier Jenner w/o JJs.

3C is fun for 2 AC2 or 1 ERPPC and 4 MGs with a 340 XL.
3M is prett darn solid with ECM and a variety of lasers ( 2 PPC and XL300) can work very well also.
2A is a solid mech 6 E hardpoints.
X5 is a very good light hunter with SSRMs, and with 2 SRM6s ive seen it wreck heavier mechs.
All in all the chassis can play alot of different roles, and is extremely fun and or competitive.

I know right? People dissing on the 3C:
CICADA CDA-3C 74 39 34 1.15 72 47 1.53 16,029 50,402 08:07:03
72 kills 47 deaths ! ER PPC + 4MGs.

One more thing. Even though it only has 2x missile tubes on each ST which causes SRM4s and 6s to semi chain fire, but it actually works in its favor as it gets around the SRM hit detection bug.

Yeah, that's what I am talking about! I know these aren't "ERHMIGAWD" incredible stats, but maintaining positive KDR is quite a lot of fun!
