Someone posted a change to the way the cadet bonus works. I then posted to it but I got to thinking.
What if the Cadet bonus was given a bit of story? (don't read into this here not story per say)
You join the game as a freelance merc. (Your picture indicates this)
As the cadet, you get to choose "Missions" There are preloadout mechs (like the trial mechs assigned to each tree of the missions)
You get a briefing and you can choose a mission, each tree for the clan in question demands you do a set of specific challenges before you complete the mission such as:
-Inflict more than 50 damage on a house Liao mech in one match
-get 2 kills
-whatever and so on.
Each tree ends in a reward, and there is a progression for each clan, some of the rewards are a free mech from the shop.
We're not talking much here something like:
Greetings Mercenary, we've noticed several shipments coming up a bit short on supplies, and we've had reports of some pilots within our ranks being missing for days at a time around the same time. We believe some of our pilots may be working with the enemy, we are asking you to try to catch them so they may face disciplinary action.
-Spot 3 mechs in one skirmish match
-Reward - unlocks next mission in chain.
-Mech used (provided): Locust-1M
I think it'd be a really good way to teach players mechanics and provide mechs and rewards to players in a way that's interactive and fun.
