I got to use a stock CN9-A in a series of battles - and had long, drawn out engagements with enemy 'mechs, including a night-ending finale on Tourmaline with all of us running low on ammo and armor - and running close to the overheat redline. More nail-biting tension and sheer *fun* per drop than standard. And we didn't get paid a C-Bill - but totally worth it.
Great matches, all, and thanks for letting me come out and play.
Now if only we can get this made into a mode ...

Stock Mech Monday, Stock Mech Eras, and Stock Mech Saturday.
No point in playing anything else!

Hosts please keep doing this.
Dev's please get us a 3020 queue!
The fights are so much more tense when you don't go down in 10 seconds, and heat is a real concern.

I think it would help if people got their builds together and cross-referenced with Smurfy the night or even afternoon before, rather than immediately after receiving their lobby invite
There have been a lot of times where we wait 10, 15, or even 20 minutes on one person while they putz about in the MechLab. It's frustrating, but it's all we can do when we don't have a proper stock queue (HINT HINT HINT, PGI!)
Regardless, one stock match is worth more than 10 normal ones, imo

I don't remember if you can see the name of your mechs in the lobby section "pick your mech", but I just called my stock mechs "Stock CN9-A" "Stock Victor Something" "Stock Highlander 732". Makes browsing a breeze.
Oh and here's a public service announcement. Gauss rifle sucks more in stock matches than meta matches. Since you need to manage multiple weapon groups and Gauss charge requires so much focus on getting it right, you just can't use all your weapons efficiently.
Don't use a Gauss and be disappointed...

Would love to just switch a 'mech back to stock in one click, as long as we have the parts. That would save a lot of time.
thanks for hosting the games guys. It was the most fun I've had in a while. Going to convert a few of my lesser used 'mechs to be ready for the next time!

I should probably get around to making a dedicated channel for this at some point.

I think if someone is still building a mech, they should be politely but firmly removed- they can't play anyway until they finish the build and it can take some time to ensure a 100% correct stock retrofity.

After playing these stock matches, pugging just seems broken to me. However, it's an unfair comparison since we have full team voip and we've balanced by tonnage. Our teamwork is usually much higher than pugging and the removal of all the customization really helps the balance.

Maybe not broken; just boring. There's very little variety in the PUG matches anymore, and you pretty much just see the exact same weapons loadout on every copy/paste mech. One of the beautiful parts about Stock Mech Monday; stock loadouts means excentric weapon groupings. At least, until everyone starts running nothing but K2s and 8Qs.
