Rouken, I understood. I just don't think Hero mechs should have their camo selectable at all. A Hero mechs custom camo should stay mandatory. Just allow the colors to be changed.

already done. Gotta disagree with you though. I don't like streaking around the IS with 6 other Ilya Muromets, all sporting the same paint job. Makes us look like Hero Groupies.

LOL, well I suppose. I just think the color can be changed to help deviate from that. Still, I always think the camo is part of the character of the mech. Besides, it will always be an Ilya in the targeting hud, you will still be a groupie ;).

I just figure if inner sphere techs are so advanced they can modify mech sin ways the Clan Omnis can't, then they ought to be able to figure out how to paint my rmech, too.

Well, in all fairness the techs are pretty incompetent. They STILL can't get my monitors to function in the cockpit and I have had a support ticket submitted to get the cockpit glass swapped out for ages...so many scratches...

My faith in my techs has diminished LOL. I don't think I can trust them with camo duty LOL.

Stop getting shot in the face, and I'm sure your cockpit glass will look better! :D

Conceptually, though, that's what the Hero 'Mechs are - "Are you a fan of Justin Allard and his exploits? Are you a fan of the Warrior tri-vid trilogy? Get your commemorative Yen-Lo-Wang replica today!"

It's not much different than, say, people who wear jerseys of their favorite team/athlete, or athletes who use equipment branded after their role models within the sport (e.g. Pavel Kolobkov epee blade, Maria Sharapova tennis racket bag, etc), or musicians that purchase instruments branded after their role models (e.g. replicas of Randy Rhodes' guitar).

Which makes it kinda funny when Federates and Lyrans run around in their Ilya Muromets replicas, once one considers that Grigori Kovalenko would most-probably despise them and everything they stand for... :D

eh, conceptually, with a few exceptions, Hero Mechs are grinders with unique hardpoints. Most of them are so far removed from the mech they represent in Lore that I could care less, TBH. If anything, the should have based a lot of the Champions off of Lore, and reserved Hero's for truly unique and special characters.

Of course, I still say they should be limited time offerings too, maybe occasionally resurrected for a special sale.

Dear PGI,

And last but not least I beg PGI to get camo pattern support on Founders, Hero, Phoenix and Invasion mechs - or at least let us switch them to standard geometry and than pick a camo pattern. Either way let paying customers enjoy the 30% C-bill bonus AND individualize their mechs!

I'm indifferent about the rest of your post, but I am so much in favor of this aspect that I support the whole thread just to get it. I want to be able to use the Firebrand that I purchased without having to compromise my beliefs with symbols that you can't make disappear no matter what solid color you use...

How will this affect mixing and matching parts? I guess any parts attached to the main core of a Invasion mech will get the exclusive geometry?

The geometry of individual parts will not change. If you have a Prime torso, A right and left arms, and B legs, they will still look like those parts, not the Prime parts.

The only thing I'm not sure about is camo. I assume that the CT will determine that, just like it will bonuses, but I hope they allow us to camo our Primes - such a lame restriction for something we buy...

We allready got confirmation that we will not be able to camo our Primes or as the are also called Invasion variants of the Package mechs!

And yes it is the same lame restriction we get for every mech we buy... :) It's like PGI actually wants to hit paying customers in the face...

This game is full of masochits, since it looks like they keep buying even by getting punched in the face.

I do. I'm a boxer in that regard - as long as I enjoy the game, I don't mind taking a few punches... In fact, that's why I don't mind posting on these forums either, lol

I don't really mind not being able to change the camo on Founders/Phoenix/Prime variants. They have unique geometry from the basic mechs and thus would add more work to the art team whenever they want to bring out a camo pattern because not only would they have to skin the Battlemaster, they'd also have to skin the Battlemaster (P), and that's the same for every mech with a special variant. Hero mechs also tend to have some different geometry that would add work.

It really doesn't bother me enough that I want to make things that much more complicated. For hero mechs, maybe, but not for Founder/Phoenix/Prime variants.

I mind quite a bit, but only on certain mechs. For instance, the Firebrand is particularly an issue, as it has satanic symbols all over it. Even if I couldn't choose from all of the camo patterns, it would be nice to at least have an alternative pattern for each. Think of it as a "non-rated" and "clean" version.

This made me think of 5 Embers with 'I love Ilya' on their T-shirts, pom-poms in their hands, cheering in a row for Ilya to step out from the backdoor after the concert. Not sure why.....

It is even simpler than that. They need to "get some".
