More important than maps are the bugs and bad performance the game has, but if you didn't fix this yet, it won't get fixed i guess.
But for the god's sake, is not that hard to make a map, and if you don't have ideas, then release an event to ask people to send you ideas for maps, or even drawings of maps.
It's getting very boring always the same damn maps.

To build new maps, developers and designers have to dedicate a large amount of time towards designing the maps, which is important for a relatively tactical game, and creating it, which is no easy feat due to the amount of little (unnecessary imo) details on each.
'Expanding the maps' indeed. What they need to spend time on is the damn core features of the game, like the Clans, and something other than this god forsaken deathmatch gameplay.

Actually, its a simple idea, since they didn't ask for "people we are going to do a contest, send us maps made on Cryengine" which for me is the most logic idea, they can review the maps and tweak them to make them balanced and done.

It's worth saying that new maps would be great. That we really want some even. Doing so by sounding like a demanding, entitled brat makes me hope that we never get another map again ever. I'd be disappointed in PGI and what they are teaching the human race if they were to release a map in response to someone speaking to them like this.
So, my comment is, please PGI. I beg of you. Don't release any new maps for a couple of months. Just because giving anyone even an erroneous assumption that speaking to anyone, ever, about anything, in this manner results in a positive outcome. Do the human race a favor.

The art team is separate from the engineering folks. Those two teams usually have little overlap.
I'm pretty happy with the pace new mechs/maps/camo/etc. comes out. Sure I want more faster but not everyday can be Christmas.
I don't think accepting community created maps would be bad so long as there is some kind of quality control process.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head

Maybe that's part of the problem. They're thinking about the maps in terms of a "Tactical Game Board" too much.
Just make some awesome landscapes, have them look/feel relatively natural, and let us battle the shit out of each other on them.
Having said that though, the OP does come off as a total douchbag, so don't take my comment as support for his cause.

There are some days I wish PGI would dump things I actually want to see just because of exactly this, rewarding P*** Poor behaviour.
On the other hand, they do make a rod for themselves sometimes too

But I did hear that a new jungle map is getting the final polish and is not far off, one of the Pod casts I think?

BULLSHIT... map making is very easy to do... a decent map can me done in a month.. or sooner if PGI would let the community help with it..
PGI started out as a MOD based company...if ever a developer needed help from a community it is PGI...
. there is an Entire community that could EASILY mod a Cry Engine Map for this game... Map making is very easy to do when compared to other factors (like Mech building or creating new weapons,ect)..
All the map pak pieces are in the game engine... it just takes a creative community to put it together...
More maps does not equate sales for PGI... hence they put it on the back burner for now... .its pissing a lot of people off.

MW:LL maps made ENTIRELY by the mecha community
MW:LL maps have destructible environments, dynamic time/weather/effects settings, etc.
MW:LL maps are larger, more interesting and filled to brim with lush detail
MW:LL maps are also made on the same exact engine...
Cryengine has built in map making tools, and people have even extracted MW:O assets into other games like here
Balls in your slow, incompetent court, PGI...

Now I'm not an expert but I participated in development testing for the Day of Defeat Source Community Assembled Map Packs bug testing (CAMP). The mappers were guys who had made some of the original Day of Defeat maps that shipped with the mod, and they were saying that the Source engine maps(rather than HL1 engine) were literally 10 to 100 times more time involved (time wise) with making the maps smooth and playable because of all the optimization that they needed to do.
I wouldn't be surprised if the same were true of an even more advanced graphics engine again, especially one they're forcing to work on an entirely different scale than the engine was originally written to handle.
In essence I wouldn't be surprised at all if each map with testing, editing, new textures, ect, ect, ect, was 2000+ work hours for artists to produce. That might take a single mapper about a year to make a single map. So if they've got 3 or 4 guys working on maps... I'd expect 3 to 4 maps a year... which is about what we're getting.

Actually now that you said something.
There is some dude here who has been playing with Cryengine. He's mostly known for showing how the pilots are scaled in relation to their cockpits. Turns out the Atlas and Commando do not work. Regardless...
...the last post I read was him looking at the maps. The building are to scales, as are the rocks, etc. He was trying to figure out exactly why the maps are so...bad. Turns out they are simply bad. As in PGI can not design maps.
I'm sure someone else will link them to you.

The artists working on Jungle Map are now working on the art assets for CW. Also, it's a swamp map. The maps will be finished when they stop working on CW.

Make a map then, go right ahead and show us how it's BULLSHIT.
You made the claim, live up to it.
I love it when people talk about things they don't really understand, because all they have is rudimentary knowledge with no actual understanding. Don't bother responding to this part, either make a map, and show us how hard/easy it was to make a functional cryengine map with proper terrain, mesh, and collision detection on each inch of it. Or stop yapping without understanding.

Right now the art team is working on finishing up the Clan `Mechs. We have two maps in the cooker on hold for now. We're waiting for resources to free up and then we can see about finishing them up and pushing "Swamp" live.
