I run a TAG on my Griffin 1N to support the ALRM10 that I carry but I also tie it in to my double ASRM4 racks. And, on my Wolverine 7K, I have a TAG in my head mount to run with my triple ARM4 racks. Everything flies out so tight that it is like getting hit with an AC10 per flight. You only need to get the TAG to glance your target to get the 1s of added compactness and that is all that you really need. With a much better hit detection, some of the more centralized SRM capable mechs are going to get kind of scary. The big thing, though, is that some of the people running those builds are going to either skimp out on speed, armor, and/or long ranged weaponry which will ultimately put piloting skills at a premium. I remember the old school Centurion SRM bombs but they, and their SplatCat friends, often died at range cause they got impatient and didn't hug terrain well enough.

I didn't think that TAG assisted in dumb fire SRM's. Is this true?

It doesn't. Artemis is the only thing that affects their grouping.

I stand corrected. Only Artemis helps out with SRMs. That kind of makes me sad :D
Ends up being ok for all of my other mechs except for my Wolverine. Welp, guess TAG gets pulled and a pulse laser gets put in.

That would be a pretty cool way of helping dumb fire SRMs if you could make them "track" your tag beam, especially if it also tightened the spread.

I look forward to rushing PPC metas and BOOM!

The only thing that would make me happier is that if airborne targets got were instantly target locked by LRMs and any dumbfire lrms currently in the air would seek out airborne targets...mwahaha...keep them pop tarts pinned down (Or clan package getting a big discount)

LRMs and SSRMs.

The streaks get a free lock on bonus. Bug has been in game for far too long...but artemis does improve SRM spread.

TAG...helps lock with streaks at 200M, but for the most part LRM only.

I just feel kind of silly, now. I could have sworn that TAG also helped. Kind of stupid that we have two tier2 tech items that only impact one weapon system while a 3rd tier2 tech affects something that it shouldn't (Artemis and Streaks).

Heat-seeking warheads (if done correctly) could be the bane of poptarts, since the Jump Jets produce quite a lot of heat to lock on. Makes life more interesting for airborne Mechs, as it gives the guys on the ground a chance to exploit the increased heat of JJ Mechs. All in all a fair trade given the reduced exposure time of poptarts.

ASRM30 Stalker 5M is my go to SRM brawler, 80 damage alpha enjoys many 1 hit kills. Especially if i suit my namesake and "stalk" effectivly into your rear arc. Had a few 1000+ damage games a few months ago, and cant wait to see what it will do when SRMs full potential is released.

As punishment, I demand you chant BRAWL BRAWL BRAWL in every match you are running SRMs.

As an additional torture, you must spam SRM KILL when you get a kill via SRM.

So, like, if I was doing that already, does that make things weird? :P

Griffin-1N:
3x SRM6+A
3x MLas
STD 275
4 tons of ammo

Only SRM6 build i've run since patch reset, so I'll clearly see any changes after tomorrow in my stats.

I never stopped using SRMs.Centurions and griffins are some of my favorite mechs. I often get 700+ damage and 3+ kills ina match. The recent srm fixes have raised my average srm damage but have not seemed to impact my kills number or my time to kill. Basically I'm getting bigger numbers now but not feeling any more effective. I'm sure a big part of this is the range limitation, 270 hard capped is really a huge liability.
I'll be very upset if SRMs get nerfed before they can be good.

Indeed... there are so many alternate munitions that could expand the utility of both SRMs (and LRMs)! :P

And if PGI can pull off the ammo-switching they apparently have planned for the Clan LB-X ACs, perhaps we might even get access to the alternate missile munitions...?! :P

Why not use 4 SRM2s? sure its hotter but they would be the only weapons generating signifcant heat anyhow.

I was being silly, I guess. Not much of a fan of the Jager A but I'm trying to make things sort of fit. But, good news! I dropped a full ASRM4 pack x3 (so 12 missiles) on a brand new Spider that decided to run right at me. Reticle blinked, his paper doll flashed, and he kept on running with not even so much as scuffed paint. Now, the fun of this little game is this:

Was it a broken Spider?

OR

Was it broken SRMs?

:P

I did have success killing a Spider with ASRMs... both legged and not-legged. :P
