From the latest patch notes:

Quote

The following configuration variables have been exposed for tuning in your user.cfg file. To add these to your user.cfg file navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online (or your custom installation location) and if it doesn't exist, create a file user.cfg containing these settings as desired. Don't forget to set the value desired.

- gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass=0/1 (off/on)
- r_DepthOfField=0/1 (off/on)
- r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0-1.0 (film grain amount)

Thank you PGI, you have made me very happy.

Pretty much every sensible player in this game is going to turn film grain and cockpit glass off.

sooo....these options couldn't just be added as sliders/check boxes in the game?
don't get me wrong,i don't care to mess with my cfg file,I've been doing it since closed beta,but someone who doesn't read the forums or whatever isn't even going to know about this.

Oh well,at least we can turn that stupid garbage off now I guess.

Right? Why punish those who don't read the forums. New players, and/or those with low end systems would greatly benefit from normal menu options... speaking of which when will the brightness and gamma sliders be fixed???

If that's latin.. oh boy.
at any rate, the syntax is like this:
attribute=value
ie:
r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0

0 is off for glass and dof (blur), grain is a value like shown above.

i don't have a user.cfg file
only a system.cfg

Do i just create a text document entitled

"user.cfg" and then add the settings?

r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0

YAY, bye bye glass and dirt.

In the year 3050 some odd we don't have wipers, anti-glare , polarized, oleophobic, hydrophobic, and transparent materials.
That's crazy talk

Lostech, of course, like missiles that can't fire more than 1km. Nothing in battletech makes sense, even more is made up.

Ipersonally will turn them off, only to test their impact on my FPS. Then at the least the glass is coming back on. I like it. Its good.

Can anyone please explain to a technologically handicapped old fart what these mean, should I have them on or off, and how EXACTLY I modify this file?

Slow and small words would help :lol:
