1. On the horizonal compass line towards the top-middle of the screen, instead of showing the bases as simple red boxes for enemy bases, blue for friendly bases and yellow for neutral, why not keep the colors as usual but instead of a diamond graphic inside the boxes, replace the graphic with a letter. The letter shown in each box will signify which base it is you are heading towards. For example Beta base can show a B inside the box, Gamma can show a G, etc. This way the player won't have to refer to the map to see which way to head for which base.

Sometimes EVERY SECOND COUNTS, especially towards the end of a territory-capture match and referring to your grid-map is both time-wasting AND risky as it takes your eyes off the battlefield.

2. When a kill happens and the left hand side of the screen shows 'So-and-so' has killed 'This-guy', why not color code the names (red and blue) to indicate if this was a kill for 'our' side or 'their' side. This will give players a general indication if their team is winning, losing, or even in kills, without having to constantly check the score by hitting tab to see the 'death-score.' Other games have this as a basic feature. Obviously this would mostly help with the 'capping' maps where kills are not indicated at the top of the screen.

These are just a couple steps in making the game more intuitive.
