Firstly, the fact you got your FB for 50% price is awesome! Gratz.. ..some of us were just too keen to wait - this mech is my favorite and most lethal!
Anyway, the mantra of the bear;
1) You will need to grind for C-Bills to get the other mechs; unless you are willing to spent RL $$. I personally only spent MC buying hero mechs & garage bays - this will get you your second mech, then you only have to grind for one. The time spent getting the pilot skills for the first two should be enough to purchase the third mech.
2) GXP - Unlock all the pilot modules you can, if you have enough. Otherwise focus on just those you expect to use. I personally set myself a backup of 15,000 just in case something new comes out - when I go above this I sometimes indulge in getting pilot skills.
3) Depends on how bad you want it. A few good games and you can level up pretty quick.. ..my personal opinion is unless you are willing to casually waste the cash, save it for hero mechs and garage bays.
Personally, I have a couple of mechs with triple figure xp, while some still sit at basic/elite.. ..I tend to play with my favorites - most notably the Firebrand, CTF-4X, Atlas DDC, Ember, Yen Lo Wang (Oooh, a favorite from each weight class!), each of these has a heap of XP sitting on them. But then again, I dont mind the excess - If you play enough you can get the skills quickly & I personally just do not value XP enough to spend money on it.I also really like playing my favorite mechs....
Another thought - if you are willing to spend the MC, consider buying the champion mechs in addition to the hero (so grind 1, buy 2). This way you have the xp bonus from two variants. Again, a personal preference if you want to spend MC on the mech for a small bonus.
As for paint and camo's, I like to indulge a bit. Not as much as Koniving, but then I dont have my own camera crew to capture the awesomeness of my mechs paint job...

..that and they are mostly white. Apart from my purple and orange FB...
