The best modules to get are:

Seismic, Target Decay, Cap Accel if you cap points, Sensor Range, and advanced zoom.

My list would be: seismic, consumable buffs, target decay for missiles and zoom for sniping. I also really like TIG.

Very true, I was meaning the ones to unlock for GXP

Well, you really do need to unlock Cool Boost and the air/arty/UAV upgrades to make the consumables shine.

He's new, and I am assuming broke cbill wise. these would be the best starts before consumables.

I will hear no more on the subject, I am busy.

Grind c-bills,eliting a chassis is worth it,and since you bought the Firebrand, the grind is a little tolerable due to the increased c-bill boost.
Jagermech is a nice chassis to do "the grind" since you can use the basic cheesy but effective boomjäger(dual ac20:s)-setup in every chassis and be successful in all of them, since you have the Firebrand, and want to elite only it,skip the DD and buy only the A and S variants since they are cheaper and allow you to use the XL-engine from Firebrand nicely.

LOL. Ok... Sensor Range is hugely overrated. :D

I would save your money. The less you spend on it the less angry you will be when clans are released

Firstly, the fact you got your FB for 50% price is awesome! Gratz.. ..some of us were just too keen to wait - this mech is my favorite and most lethal!

Anyway, the mantra of the bear;

1) You will need to grind for C-Bills to get the other mechs; unless you are willing to spent RL $$. I personally only spent MC buying hero mechs & garage bays - this will get you your second mech, then you only have to grind for one. The time spent getting the pilot skills for the first two should be enough to purchase the third mech.
2) GXP - Unlock all the pilot modules you can, if you have enough. Otherwise focus on just those you expect to use. I personally set myself a backup of 15,000 just in case something new comes out - when I go above this I sometimes indulge in getting pilot skills.
3) Depends on how bad you want it. A few good games and you can level up pretty quick.. ..my personal opinion is unless you are willing to casually waste the cash, save it for hero mechs and garage bays.

Personally, I have a couple of mechs with triple figure xp, while some still sit at basic/elite.. ..I tend to play with my favorites - most notably the Firebrand, CTF-4X, Atlas DDC, Ember, Yen Lo Wang (Oooh, a favorite from each weight class!), each of these has a heap of XP sitting on them. But then again, I dont mind the excess - If you play enough you can get the skills quickly & I personally just do not value XP enough to spend money on it.I also really like playing my favorite mechs....

Another thought - if you are willing to spend the MC, consider buying the champion mechs in addition to the hero (so grind 1, buy 2). This way you have the xp bonus from two variants. Again, a personal preference if you want to spend MC on the mech for a small bonus.

As for paint and camo's, I like to indulge a bit. Not as much as Koniving, but then I dont have my own camera crew to capture the awesomeness of my mechs paint job... :( ..that and they are mostly white. Apart from my purple and orange FB... :)

Hello all. Long time Mechwarrior fan. Short time MWO player.

I have read a few guides that state NEVER convert GXP to XP (or maybe it was the other way around) and to 'Unlock elite ASAP.'

In the duration that I have been playing, I have found that I really like playing in my Firebrand that I purchased 50% off. However....I have now unlocked all his basic stuff and am just accumulating XP. I understand that I have to do this same thing to three mechs in this (weight class or chassis - I don't know which) but each of the other mechs cost a lot of C-Bills. So what should I do? I currently have about 8,000 GXP and continue to rack up XP on this mech. But I am too poor to purchase any of the other Jagers. So I have a few questions.

1. Do I need to just grind for C-bills to get in the other mechs to unlock Elite in the Firebrand?
2. What should I focus my GXP purchases on?
3. Is it dumb or smart to convert my XP to GXP? (The fact that it costs real money to do this is an irritant.)

Do any of you have any suggestions on how to best spend all the different forms of 'currency' in this game? (Which by the way is a MAJOR irritant to me - Having four different forms of 'currency' - C-Bills/MC/XP/GXP to purchase/unlock things is baffling to me.) There HAS to be a better way.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

S

Epicurius, good pick on a hero mech! I love the Firebrand  Yes, you basically grind out more C-Bills to buy 2 more Jagermechs, then level those through basic.

During this grinding, you will also accumulate XP (which you use to level your Firebrand instantaneously through Elite once your other two Jagers hit full basic) and GXP (which you CAN use to level mechs, but I wouldn't. Use it to unlock modules, which you then need to use C-Bills to buy).

You CAN buy Mechs with MC...same with modules...but only Hero Mechs, like the Firebrand, can ONLY be bought with MC. Buying a normal mech with MC...while expedient...seems a waste to me. But to each their own! What do you value most? Your money, or your time?
